Is it just me that finds even after i have the full amount of players (2/2 players) it still takes forever for the game to actualy start and useualy resulting in the other player/s dropping.
Could it be something to do with my router or firewall? Although it works fine when i make custom games and people join manualy.

Unless you wish to take this to the technical problems (in which I bet there is at least one thread pertaining to this topic) you are likely to get a big shiny lock on this.

While its here though. I found that with my basic free Zonealarm that I could connect to games but I couldn't host them. So I used to spend an eternity trying to connect on automatch and when I was hosting I watched them drop over and over, but I could connect to someone else's game.

This was caused by Zonealarm hiding my IP while I'm on the net. I just drop the security down a notch so my IP is protected but not hidden and it works fine.

Yeah, you might have to go so far as shutting down your software firewall, such as ZoneAlarm, like I have to in order to play DoW online, especially for automatch. I've got a NAT firewall on my modem, which sorta makes me feel still somewhat secure. Don't know if this helps...

@Moik:
What setting did you change in ZoneAlarm? Just lower the Internet Zone Security from high to medium? Or something else? I'd like to see if it works for me, instead of just shutting down ZoneAlarm. Thx

Yep. Then I just set it back to high again afterwards. I don't know what the application settings are but when it flagged up saying DoW was trying to connect/serve I allowed it. I think you only need connect though.

I get this problem too, of waiting forever. For some reason the game doesn't want to start. I thought I was doing something wrong. I know I've got no connection issues. Maybe it's other people's connection issues?

Anyway its made automatching even less appealling.

I'll move this to Tech Assistance. Perhaps you can get some answers there.

Ive noticed this as well. I've had ridiculous difficulty finding matchs, about 10% of my connections attually turn into games.

the only problem ive had is with the port 6500, which isnt forwarding(even with DMZ enabled, MS firewall off, MS defender, and forwarded by router to correct IP).

I wonder if xfire is blocking it or something.
