I just realized the other day that my comp doesnt need the CD to load WA? why is that? I remember that it use to prompt me for the CD whenever I was going to play

Yeah - apparantly the copy protection has served its purpose so it was removed in 1.5 as a surprise extra for us. You can play both WA and vanilla DoW without any CD in the drive.
