Can't watch replays or install patch

Hi guys, hoping someone here can help me!

I bought DoW Game of the Year edition yesterday and I downloaded some replays to watch how best to play muiltplayer, but I cant watch the. I've put the unipped .rec files into the playback folder and go to skirmish...load game...recorded games, but no list appears

I thought it might be that I need the game patched up, so I downloaded the 1.50 patch, but it told me I had to start patching from the start. So I downloaded patch 1.01 but it won't let me run it! I get a message saying I shouldnt be using it on the UK version which I have!

Finally, I tried to install patch 1.10 (before I found out patch 1.01 came before it) and I got a message saying it's incompatible with my language version! I downloaded the english patch and Im using the English version of the game!

I don't understand why any of this is happening and any help would be great!

If I download the full 1.41 patch, that takes me from 1.0 to 1.41, am I likely to encounter the same problems? I would dload it but it's huge and my internet isnt the fastest!! :(

If you have the GotY edition you are already at the 1.4 patch, so you only need to get 1.41 and 1.5.

If the replays are from v1.5, then yes.

Well, if the replays you downloaded are from 1.5 then you will only be able to watch them when patched all the way to 1.5.

Reall sorry about this guys, but it hasnt worked! I'm patched up to 1.50 but I still cant view them. I ran a test and came up with something very weird! I started a skirmish, then quit after 10 seconds and saved the replay, calling it 'test'. Then when I came back I could load it up no problem. So I went into my DoW folder to see where it had saved, and there isn't a single file in the whole Dawn of War folder called 'test'! I have no idea where it is, and I even did a search using the search function on the start menu and still couldn't find it! I'm really stuck now :(

wait a minute, I think the replay IS in the folder, it's just not called 'test' for some reason

The only other thing I can think of is that I don't have Winter Assualt, which these may have been saved with. But the place I dloaded the files from (dawn of war files website) gave you the choice to choose between DoW or DoWWA replays and I chose just the DoW ones.

I'll try and download some replays that are definitely just Dawn of War and see if they work

The replays aren't saved with the same name you saved them ingame, it can be a bit confusing but it tells you the map name and date, so it is just a matter of remembering.

Anyways, there was somebody with a similar problem a while ago, I'll see if I can find the thread.

edit: After a quick search the only thing that I came up with was that you should be sure that the playback folder is not set to read-only.
