Dark Crusade: Intro?

If you could make the intro for dark crusade, what would it be and why would you choose it?

The only guidelines to follow would be it must include the Necrons and the Tau among any of the other races but those are not required.. the more vivid the higher points yea score!

Also when the game comes out we'll see who's closest to the actual intro (There better be an intro.. cause durnit Winter Assault didnt have one and I begged the gods of old to bring me those amazing intro's!)

Be original, dont try to steal anyone else's idea!

The reason there is no intro is that they decided instead of using some of all that fantastic money on a new intro movie, they decided to use the money on improving the game content, and as far as i can see, it was a good decision.

I don't think Blur is doing it but Relic might do it in house with some extra funds from THQ!

A necron monolith lowers on the ground, the Eldar say some wise words that the nearby races ignore, everyone charges at the monolith and only the necron lord exits it, as the monolith begins firing on all the races but the Eldar, the eldar charge at the necron lord but he transforms and kills them, then the warriors exit the monolith and the lord dies by the mass of units, but is ressurrected by his ressurrection orb, then the TAU arrive you see multiple orca dropships land and a Barricuda launch a flurry of missles at the monolith and the races around it obliterating many, the TAU then exit and you see pulse carbines and rifles firing everywhere, the necrons release more forces from the monolith and this time destroyers exit it rapidly attacking the encroaching TAU.


Suddenly the TAU Shadowsun battlearmor whatever his name is dude comes out and launches at the new necron lord, and uses some radical ability that kills him. Then the Immortals quickly begin trashing the TAU, and the fight zooms out and you see more monoliths approaching the planet slowly entering the atmosphere, and zooming out even more you see TAU Mantas approaching releasing dropships towards the planets.

and then it zooms in all the way to an empty spot, and you see the Green Glow of the monolith, slowly rising out of the ground, and then the words "Warhammer 40,000" appear and then below it
"The Dark Crusade" then the intro ends.

Tranj said they would not be having a new intro movie, and hinted that they would be spending that money on some 'after game' support. Many think this is the new online service of relic online, others arent very sure.

I have heard rumours of an online persistent campaign.. that would be more preferable than a new intro movie.

Online Service isn't a problem (GS works fine if ports are open) I think an Intro Trailer would get people hyped up if it was on the main site.

TRANJ said that they would spend the intro money on after game support. many have interipted this as a new lobby system by Relic online, which, INCLUDES the online persistent campaign(stated in an interview about CoH, and how relic online would enable them to have the campaign)

I wouldnt expect a new intro movie with all the money being used for DC and COH. Buut I kinda would like to see one mainly because you have 2 new races. And not expansions of an already existing race, like 2 actual new species or whatever. So it would be weird to see your typical space marine and ork lol.

Though I would laugh my ass off if the dc intro video is the same half way through and then all of a sudden the nightbringer just randomly pops up and kills everyone. And then you see a bunch of necron guys comin out of the ground or something. (new to the necron race and ignorant to the tt/fluff story heh)

We aren't saying where yet, but there will be some cool post release stuff.

I can't imagine that they won't do a new intro. They skimped on Winter Assault. Why would they do it again? They know people had a fit over it last time, and it was bad publicity. And, since this game is introducing two new races, along with new game mechanics, they probably will do a new opening. Also, it will be a stand alone game, aside from DoW and WA.

I think they added the new units after they decided to make DC a stand alone (THQ probably gave them more money over the success of DOW and WA (which Tranj has stated many times)).

More money, more disc space, evidence that Tranj doesn't have a sound record in speaking the truth (but hes still a good guy :) ), means there is a very slight chance of being an intro.

i like looks and graphics and all, but gameplay is a lot better. It is really good that they are going to give us new content or some temp gameplay changes after release. This REALLY helps keep the game alive. I recently got guild wars factions and nearly EVERY week they have an event. so Relic is on the right track with their plan i think.

The original intro movie only features the Space Marines & the Orks.

Dark Crusade is a stand-alone, thus it would be silly to show new Warhammer comers that only play DC, 2 races that they won't even have the chance to play with (maybe only in the campaign).

I hope there is one. Blur studios is seriously really good at this stuff, their website just shows the stuff they are capable of.

If relic were to make another movie, blur is the way to go. Hell I think blur is doing an intro for the warhammer:age of reckoning also.

Yea, a new standalone game (despite being an expansion) having space marines and orks for an intro would be foolish at best... Even if they didnt, you'd have alot of dissapointed forum goer's and that can dramatically hurt the word of mouth selling point..

Alot of friends of mine when they found out there wasnt going to be a new intro for WA decided to not get the expansion, even after finding out the new game, playing the new campaign only 1 in 10 actually bought it.. with DC there are new units, new armies and revamped gameplay.. so? despite the fact we wanted both races and new units in the game, it can hurt the word of mouth sell value...

I wont skip out on getting the game cause of it but It will hurt its replay value...

DoW I still play religiously and I even put my WoW account on hold so I could continue to play the game without having to worry about little things getting in the way.. That intro movie makes the entire game.. seeing the same intro and then the WA loadscreen dulled my excitement for the WA expansion, so why dull the experience any by keeping the same intro...

We certainly wouldnt wana kick a dead horse now...

Yea if they dont make a new intro because its a stand-alone i will kill stuff. And the intro to age of reconing (if it was done by the same people who did DoW) is even better that Dow's is that is possible.

The Tau Commander is viewing the field.. he gives some commands to some tau pathfinders who are some ways away from the encampment, several devilfish are landing behind the commander in the base and dropping off fire warriors. It goes to a shot of the commander what he's seeing and it shows the pathfinder's view in his HUD (heads up display) which suddenly some flayed ones unburrow through the ground and tear apart the pathfinders infront of their Shas'ui (pathfinder's sergant who the commander is viewing through).

So the commander see's the blood and gore of the pathfinder squad getting torn apart in the hud, then it goes silent. The commander looks to where the pathfinders were then he sees an entire necron force rising from the sands. He gives the order to open fire when a hammerhead/skyray fires off a few salvos detonating around the area, some firewarriors land in a Devilfish and they survey the fallen necrons, suddenly.. they begin to reassemble and slay the firewarriors, then it goes a necron's face, his eyes glowing green then it fades to black into the Dark Crusade screen...

That is an awsome idea, man you should get Buggo or Tranj to take up this idea.

Well my favorite part in Mark Of Chaos intro is the moment when he yells :
" TO ME SONS OF SIGMA !!.. FOR THE EMPIRE!!!!!!! " and the slother after that :D and in DoW the part white the dreanot coming killing the orcs and the moment of counter attack from the marine side :P

You know, since I first bought DoW, I have watched the intro

that I've turned on the game. It was bad enough that there wasn't an intro for WA, but hey, I survived.

Now, for this game, there's GOT to be some sort of intro. I mean, there's so much more content being added to DoW that it deserves a brand spankin new intro.

Im certainly for it and considering that not including an intro would certainly hurt its chances of becomming something AMAZING instead of just mediocre...

I would love to have a DC intro, instead of the same old DOW one we have currently. However, if Relic would use the money for intro for better service and content support for DC, I'll be willing to give up a new intro for that.

Besides, I just skip the intro like everybody else anyway.
