I am going to buy the eldar megaforce when it comes out, that is sure, and thi is my first eldar army ever, i have studied them a little, i know their tactics well, i have even borrowed a friend's eldar army to play test with, but i cant decide on a craft world, can anyone help me learn more about each of the craftworlds so i can pick a colr to stick with, i am very bad at choosing so a little eldar chatting would help me here.

I know the backrounds of the craftworlds but i would like to know what their strengths are and such. It would be a great help thanks.:read:  :(

P.s. My main problem with the colors is i like the iyaden and beil tan back rounds, i like the saim-hann colors, i am a sucker for all 3 and should ijust make my own?

Could just do run of the mill Eldar, No craftworld needed.

My favorite would be Ulthwe/Ulthwe strike force (yes I know...different!).

But I would hold my judgements untill I read the new Codex.

Seeing as though it is has been confirmed by both Jes Goodwin and Phil Kelly that there will be NO craftworld specific rules, traits, doctrines or otherwise in the new codex to represent the different craftworlds, your colour scheme will purely be a personal choice as you won't be retricted by any rules.

Personally I've always been an Iyanden fluff and colour scheme fan boy, but yellow is a pain in the ass to paint over and over. If I was ever to re-paint them, it would be the red and white of Sann-Haim, which I think looks very striking on the TT.

Nothing says Uber Cheese like 3 Wraithlords and 3 squads of Wraithguard :D. Iyanden are a lovely force to do (If you can paint yellow.) However at the moment 3 wraithlord/guard are not really that effective, If I had to choose the best army from the craftworld I vote Biel-Tan. Everyone hates 6 squads of deadly, deadly Aspect warriors.

You rang? As said, the new Codex will not have any Craftworld specific rules, so you'd have to get the new Codex and find the best way to make a 'themed' army to represent your chosen Craftworld. With Biel-Tan, that should be easy enough, with the new Auatarch, Dire Avengers are troops, Warp Spiders are apparently being moved to fast attack and so on, so you could do that with little effort.

Unless Farseers become a 0-1, the only way you'll be seeing Seer Councils is by attaching an independant Farseer to one accompanied by Warlock bodyguards.

In the words of Fonzie- 'eeeeyh'

Current rumours point to the following: Taking a Farseer allows you to take upto 10 Warlocks, but you can swap every third Warlock can be a Farseer.

Basically you end up with 3 Farseers and 7 Warlocks.

If you are correct, that would be:

1 Farseer, 3 swapped Farseers, 7 Warlocks to make 4 Farseers and 7 Warlocks.

Well allow me to put it another way.

Whatever the options are, it's being reported on Warseer that using the new Codex, you will be able to have a Seer Council, max 10 models, 3 of which are Farseers.

...and given that all Farseers/Warlocks come with Witchblades included in their cost, that will be one damm expensive unit.

Don't pick a Craftworld pick a style of play. Do you like grav bikes or do you like super Rangers? As of right now work out how you want your army to play and not by the backround or coloring. WIth Dire Avegers becoming a Troop choose I don't see the need for Guardians any more. Guardians die far to quickly and their only redeming point is their weapons platforms.

For the most part spacewofllord is correct, but bare these three things in mind:

1) The "super" Rangers are being nerfed quite a bit in the new Codex with the lose of the Ranger Disruption Table

2) Dire Avengers have always been a Troops choice

3) Guardians can be very effective in multiple roles, and don't need to rely on their heavy weapon.

But like he said, if you want to include lots of Jetbikes, then perhaps Sann-Haim will look nice and be very fitting to their background.

Why don't you take a look at the craftworld eldar codex and decide which one suits your playing style best? Or, tell us how you like to play and the rest of us can help you choose a craftworld that best suits you and your playing style

DO NOT even bother looking at Codex: Craftworld Eldar other than for painting ideas and themes. Craftworld Eldar is no more and the new Codex: Eldar will be out soon. If you build a craftworld force, (say, Alaitoc for instance), it would be invalidated within 3 months.

The New Eldar Codex is suppost to come out in Octorber or Orktorber as GW is saying because of the new WF Orks are coming out then. I do wonder which they are promoting more?

Eldober doesn't have quite the same ring to it. I wouldn't read too much into it.

A while ago I started a thread
http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=99046
talking about craftworld colors and 'alternative craftworld' colors, there are currently 5 recognised craftworld colors and these currently have special rules.

But on this thread, there is a list of 13 known craftworlds (courtesy-Wikipedia). there is no reason why you cannot create an alternative craftworld of your own, call it a 'splinter faction' or 'sub-sect', you can either use 'generic Eldar rules' or 'different craftworld Eldar' rules. if you like skimmer vehicles use saim-hann rules, but create you own craftworld history, for example use Harley Davidson-esque colour scheme and call them 'Warp-Angels', as a spin-off from 'hells angels'.

I use Biel-Tann rules, but have a alternative 'Lir-Edin Sun' back history and craftworld, completely 'off the wall' and made up, But it works for me.
