WA and DC Demo Crashing Help me plz. :)

Hi.

My first post.

First i have to say the German support from THQ is just ridiculous (i'm german hope you understand me ;) english isn't my native language so don't be rude).

The Only thing they said to me was to uninstall my Routersoftware, so i hope you guys around here can help me.


Ok now back to topic. I got a problem. WA and even the DC Demo are crashing after random time played, reaching from 1 Minute to 7-8 Minutes. But always the same. No Errormessage just back to Windows.

I've put my Error.log, Dxdiag.txt, minidump.dmp and my warnings.txt in an *.rar and attached it.

What are your system specs and DoW version? Graphics card & drivers version?

Athlon 64 3800+
1024 MB Ram (Infineon)
Asrock 939 Dual Motherboard
XFX 7600GS Graphic (256 MB) (Nvidia 91.31 Driver)
Soundblaster XFi (5.12.2.1143 Driver) Can't find the exact Driver Number so i copied the number from the Hardwaremanager. :) )

DoW Version at the moment is 1.51 but the Problems exist since WA is on the market. (i think WA original is 1.4 oder 1.41) As i noticed i don't get the problem with DoW on it's own. DoW don't crash it's only WA and now DCDemo. :(

I get the same Problem with the DC Demo i send an Bugreport with the Demobugreportingtool. But, Yeah no one answerd. :)

Don't worry, Aidan, you did the right thing as it;s not always needed to have a neverending post full of specs and log dumps in order to figure things out.

My system is similar to yours (video card & driver version), although my processor is Intel. Anyway, had lots of problems until i disabled shadows (shadows=none) via the options (graphics).

Saw that suggestion in other topics, it seems to be a problem with the GFs 7x00 nvidia cards, which handle shadows differently from previous cards.

For a long time there's been issues with DoW and graphics cards, the old ATi vs nVidia rubbish. I've had both and played DoW & WA using both. IMHO, DoW's engine code has to be cleaned up. Most people with different configs complain about these problems, which sometimes are related to drivers (it happened with my ATi card), and sometimes not (nV).

Anyway if you can't play without shadows (which I really don't care, I prefer to boost all the rest of the options) maybe you can try setting the shadows to low or medium. Some forum members say it crashes less or not at all.

Your specs seem pretty high-end to me, so maybe you can try beefing up the graphics by reading DoW: WA readme (readme_wa.txt in your DoW folder), specifically the WARHAMMER 40,000: DAWN OF WAR – WINTER ASSAULT ADDENDUM section.
