Hi, i've downloaded the DC demo yesterday and am unable to install it to my computer.
The problem is that my C: drive is only 4 GB big, apparently. I have only 1 GB of free space on it (now only 700 MB because the installer put something on my C: drive during an install attempt and the installer didn't clean up after itself properly). That one gig was enough for both DoW and WA demos to install... But the DC installer is horribly inefficient, it unpacks around 700 MB of stuff on the C: drive and then the proper installer launches and tells me i haven't enough disk space to install the demo. It shows me both my drives, C: and E: with their respective empty spaces.
My E: drive has 45GB of free space on it, i aimed the install path for the demo to the E: drive. So why the fuck does the demo still need 610 MB of free space on the C: drive even after it unpacked 700MB of data already?
I tried to unRaR the .exe file (this worked with every installer that tries to unpack everything on the C: drive... until now), but it only unpacks some 5 MB of useless DLL files 2 not working .exes and an .msi that doesn't work. Please tell me how to properly extract the .exe file.
So now this demo ate some 200+ MB off of the precious 1 GB of free space on the C: drive an doesn't want to install altough technically it should be possible. So someone please lend a hand at how to either clean that 200MB of useless data off the C: drive or how to install the demo... :disgust:
Oh yea: i had the same trouble with the DoW and WA demos, but i managed to clear enough space on the C: drive to put them on the computer. I found out that the installer NEVER USED THE SPACE I HAD TO CLEAR FOR IT! There was some 400 MB if free space left after unpacking and everything and neither of the two demo installers used this 400MB, so i suspect that neither the DC would need that 610MB of space on my C: drive, amirite?
