Problem description: Patching DoW displays a blank screen and hangs.

Solution:
Change the Options to display in windowed mode. This will help install up to 1.3.
At the end of the patch, after a restart, a blank window is displayed.
Switch back to cedega, highlight the install text and select stop.

Problem description: Patching DoW 1.4 or installing Winter Assault displays a title #Winex#CON /C Fix140.bat and hangs.

Solution:
Run cedega from a shell.
Navigate to and kick off the 1.4 patch or WA install.
Proceed to Fix140.bat error in window.
Switch back to shell.
Hopefully cedega has errored with a file not found and dumped to a "c>" prompt
Type Fix40.bat to commit the changes
Type exit
Switch back to install window and continue patch

This worked for me and saves having to find a windows box to install and copy the patched files over. I'm recording here for posterity!

Best of luck!

Last time I used Cedega I couldn't run DoW
is it now supported?

cause WINE runs and installs DoW and patch's fine, but there is a bug with installshield that stops WA getting installed

DoW is listed (http://cedegawiki.sweetleafstudios.com/wiki/Warhammer_40%2C000_-_Dawn_of_War) as functional with patching problems. The workaround is to install or patch on a windows box and copy the files and export registry settings manually.

The above process will let you run the patches manually and/or install Winter Assault.

Installshield problems are a known Cedega problem. If the error occurs after the install, its safe to ignore it. If the error occurs during you can sometimes install instmsia.exe to that game profile before trying the install.

Well patching with WINE is fine, I might try installing instmsia.exe in WINE
I really dont want to go back to Cedega!!

you know they were the one's that made Blizzard not release a native client, they even planned to as well

I do not ethically support their closed source philosophy (eh, i do financially/subscriptorially) but i am reluctant to believe they are nefarious/naive enough to try to piss off their user base without a valid reason.

I'm not hitting much on Google, do you have any links?
