I have forwarded port 6112 with firewall monitoring it, now why can't I connect?

I have gone it to my router and set up forwarding of 6112, my firewall should all monitored access. Are there any other reasons that I can't connect directly to someone, given that I can play using straight online?

Thanks, but I have been defeated. I have forwarded every single one in the router and enabled them in the firewall but to no avail...
