I had the original dawn of war, and i bought the gold edition today to get the Winter Assault expansion and prepare for Dark Crusade.
Anyway, loaded it up.. and in the original Dawn of War when it loads up to the main menu screen, the background is black, with green/white specs in some areas. The actual unit model looks fine..but the background is borked. If i try and start a game it crashes to the desktop.
If i try and open Winter Assault, it gets through the intro movie and then when the "Loading" screen is supposed to come up..its just a black screen with the copyright info at the bottom, and then a bar of white and green pixels under that. It then crashes to the desktop without ever opening the main menu.
Here is what ive done:
I have upgraded to 1.41, then 1.50, then 1.51.
I have tried reinstalling twice
I have upgraded my video drivers
I have loaded the game in "safe mode graphics"
Here is what is weird:
After updating my video drivers and such, DOW still wouldnt work, but I could open and play Winter Assault just fine. I then played 2 games, and then shut my computer down to go eat dinner and do some junk. Came back and powered it up.. now its doing it again..cant load Winter Assault.
I have a sinking suspicion that ive got bad disks.
Especially when I look at the warning log and see this.
FILESYSTEM -- filepath failure, path does not exist 'Engine\Locale\english\Data'

Ill post the DXDiag and full warning txt if necessary..but id like to first see if anyone can give me any advice on whether this is a known problem, or if i for sure have a bad set of disks.
