What kind of requirments would i need for a computer to run all settings on high and not have any lag problems!

I noticed with even a P4.3, 1.5 gigs of memory, and a 256 mb gddr-2 memory at 533 mhz Radon x1300 graphics card..i still get lag when theres a lot of stuff going on?

I would like to enjoy the game with no skipping in the animations?

Try disabling Hyperthreading in your system BIOS - that can cause performance issues with DoW.

Your video card's the bottleneck here. DoW is very GPU intensive. Even with my 512MB X1900XT, my framerate drops slightly in large battles with lots of units on screen at once. Just turn down your graphics settings until you get framerates that are acceptable for you.

If thats the case its not nessecarily a problem with your system and more a problem with the games software. But there might be other factors given my knowledge of the situation is limited

And to NoMamm exactly what vj8usa said, your video card is the bottle neck, the x1300 is a budget card and not built to run much of anything on high, i don't know what your budget is but I'd highly recommend a 800xt or 850xt, they're not terribly expensive for what you get, but are getting kind of outdated, or even go higher like a x1900xt but only if you can afford it obviously.

And by the looks of it, I would also suggest you get a sound card as it can take some of the load off your processor, and improve your audio greatly, I know my sound card was probably the best $60 i spent for fairly large performance increase

yea i had a sound card but it was like 5 years old already and decided to go with the on board for now...as for the other high end cards..are they agp or pci express because if they are pci express my motherboard doesent support it unfortunatley!

oh an as for tbs do i really have to turn of the hyperthreading? i think illl leave it and just turn the setting down slightly.. any suggestions on what i should turn down to get good game play and good effects without losing all the good animation and texture quality?

Shadows. They eat up lots of graphics power, and the game still looks good without them.

I don't think thats the cause.
I also have a P4 (3.2) HT and the game just starts the frameskip thing when there is a lot of stuff going on. Other games like Generals slow down, DoW does the frameskip thing.
It's the engine I would say.

step2ice: I'm not saying that HT will cause problems but for several people experiencing performance issues with DoW disabling HT has completely fixed the problem. Its worth checking out in any case - if it doesnt help then simply reenable it and try something else.

The x800xt and the x850xt are both availble in AGP and run around $150-$200 depending on where you go, the x1900 series is only PCI-E, but I do hear rumors Diamond is gonna make an AGP version of the x1950pro for around $199.99 if these rumors do pan out then I'd go with that definietly over the 800's.

Hyperthreading is to do with your processor, not graphics card.

And how do you do turn off Hyperthreading (worth a try, my old comp ran it fine, new comp has major frameskipping- that is if frameskipping is where the screen jerks alot when I move it but the units move fine).

There is an option in the BIOS. When your PC starts, hit delete or F2 (depends on your BIOS type, really) even before windows boots. You'll be treated with a very DOS-looking screen - the BIOS. Browse through the options and see if you can find Hyperthreading in there.

This won't damage anything or stop anything from working properly will it?

Edit:I looked through the bios menu but couldn't find hyperthreading, there was something in the CPU section with a name a bit like it but definately not threading, I don't wanna damage anything so could someone give me a pointer as to it's whereabouts in the bios menu?

I have all three Dawn of War games and an ATI video card and have always had to turn off hyperthreading to play it. I believe this is a compatibility issue with DoW, ATI, and Intel. Nontheless, hyperthreading will most likely have to be turned off.
