I have a problem when playing dow :/ my fps is very low even in smallest maps/battlest. Here are some screenshots with 1v1 map against the comp.. settings are at medium (shadows=low, scarring/bodies=low)
and all my drivers are up to date!

Try turning off shadows.

no effect, but thanks anyway :/

just tried with every setting maxed and with 4xAA and the performance was allmost the same... not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.. and by the way the fps isn't allways that bad, only in battles :/

Out of curiousity, does the performance degrade when you are not watching the battle, i.e. when you focus the camera on a part of the map where nothing is happening?

no it doesn't.. If I focus it on a part where nothing is happening it is very smooth.

Hm, that would indicate that it is a graphics problem rather than a CPU issue. What happens when you turn the graphics details all the way down?

I turned everything to low/off and set the resolution to 800x600.
now I get fps between 35-45 in battles, so there's a huge improvement. But now I lose all the visual quality.. I think my comp could handle more than low settings..
Well, I'll try to find settings that look good and still give me satisfying performance. I'll post results.

okay I'll stick with the settings the graphics utility thing suggests.. I'll get a pretty decent fps.. allthou I would prefer better visual..

I dont think there could be a problem with your hardware.
See if you have unwanted software running in the background which is taking up ram when you are playing your games.
Norton can be this problem.
Disable your anti-virus (if you have one that is) while playing games and activate it again when your not.

I alwaus close my antivirus when going to play games and start it right after closing the game.. I did notice that If I leave Firefox open during DoW it has quite big impact on the performance..

That fps are completely normal. Game doesn't slow, right?

Download gameshadow that checks all your game updates and driver updates for graphic cards and stuff.
It might even be that your graphics card is not connected right.
I once done this with my slave drive that wasnt connected right.

just installed Dark Crusade and I think it works better. it seems to be more smooth, even the graphics utility suggested better settings that DoW/WA
