hmm send me a private message.

As many people are concerned with computer techniques and technical terms, I have decided to write this image guide to give everyone a more clear idea of how to retrive your CD key if you have lost your key on your case, user manual or toilet door.

The main focus will be the editing of Windows Registry, if you are confident with computer, the registery will be a fun thing to play around with. (As far as you don't screw it up)

The Registry Editor is a genius tool in your computer. An example for using registry editor is The Sims and The Sims 2. The Sims series contains not only the game but also the game in various languages; by using registry editor, you can enjoy The Sims 2 in French even if you brought the game itself from Australia.

As a note, Dawn of War series do not come with multi language support, so if your game is in English, the registry editor cannot change it to other languages.

The format of this guide is a bit screwed, I will fix them up later. Only part of the fonts are meant to be bold.

Step 1

From your Windows Toolbar, choose Start, then click on Run... (The highlighted section in the image)

Proceed to step 2

Step 2
A window like the image below should turn up. If not, then it means you either have deep trouble with your computer or authority level.

In the Open: textbox, insert regedit. Regedit stands for Registry Editor, it's playing with fire if you change the log inside without knowing what they do.

Click OK button, and you may proceed to the next step.

Step 3

Click on the [+] sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then you should see many sub registry folders under it. (See next image)

Step 4
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/your__neighbour/4.jpg
Click on the [+] sign next to SOFTWARE, then the sub registry folders should expand.

Step 5
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/your__neighbour/5.jpg
Scroll down, and look for a folder named "THQ".
Click on the [+] Sign to expand the registry.

Step 6
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/your__neighbour/6.jpg
After the registry has been expanded, you should see two folders (I have three because I have RDN tool), one called Dawn of War,(If you have installed Dawn of War) one called Dawn of War - <s>Dork</s> Dark Crusade.

If you see a folder called Dawn of War - Winter Assult, then your computer is haunted

Here comes the choice: What's your problem?

a. I lost the CD- Key for vanilla DoW/or/and/ Winter Assult.

b. I have Dark Crusade, but I did not insert the CD key for vanilla DoW/or/and/ Winter Assult.

If your problem is A, please proceed to Step D1

If your problem is B, please proceed to Step D2

(The instructions below have been packed for manual tidiness)

STEP D1

DO NOT SCREW UP HERE. KEEP YOUR HAND OFF THE BACKSPACE KEY IF YOU ARE NOT CONFIDENT WITH THIS.

Click on the Dawn of War folder
and you will see a bunch of registries like the image above. The two high lighted registries CDKEY and CDKEY_WXP are the registries for your vanilla DoW and Winter Assult.

The digits near the CDKEY registry is the CD key you inserted for vanilla DoW.

CDKEY_WXP contains the CD key you inserted for Winter Assult.

Copy them down on paper if you have lost them.

The number on the image has been wiped because I am not generous enough to share them with you.
