one of my ideas for a ship in a future mod of hw2

http://www.silentthunder.de/pics/pulsardest2.jpg
i would call it a pulsar destroyer. it is something between a assault fregate (like in the picture) and a normal destroyer
armament:
Kinetic Burst Cannon Turret x 4 (wings; sub weapon system)
Twin Pulsar Beam Turret x2 (front; main weapon system)
the ship got perfect couverage, and is specialized for escorting.
it could replace smaller forces like 2 assault fregs and 2 pulsar corvs.
the ship should be rdy for research even after the battle cruiser, cause it is the perfect complement for those mighty ships.
the texturing is bad i know, but i dont have too much hw2 yet.

That's a cool design dude; very "bird of prey," if you will. :)

I like it too... however it looks a bit unhomeworldish to me, but that doesn't make it bad:)

I'm thinking the odd shape might create collision detection issues, but it's a nice model. I think the HW2 models are rather boxlike for a reason (with the exception of that butterfly-like ship).

the whip was inspired by the "waterloo" class light cruiser of wing commander 2. first i wanted to do an escort carrier or th. like that, but then i switched to this design and purged the hangar sections...
for the collission dectection thing:
the "Mothership" of the turanic raiders is in some way like this ship and the model doesnt have any trouble with collision :-)

vewy gwood. although, it doesn't have that "homeworld" look to it. try to lower the four towers on which the kinetic turrets are located. make them shorter.
also try to get the distinctive Hiigaran capital look. they usually have a sort of "cowling" over and around the middel and back/engine.
also, tryo and see what heppens when you make the "conection" between the front and the back engine part...

nice model, i can see the similarities it shares with the waterloo. dont listen to ammon ra, it looks great how it is.

Antares, I vaguely recall there was this massive ship called the T-mat with very long and extended arms, kind of like a starfish but pointier. Somewhere I read that it didn't make it in because of collision detection issues and pathing problems around the arms. Of course, that was a massive mothership-class vessel, so a smaller ship might not have these issues.

i think it also had something to do with each arm of the star detaching and that caused problems (i think) that ship should have no problems in game, in my wing commander mod we have had no trouble with our waterloo.

erm.. does that have anything to do with the "fallen angesl" mod thing??? hope not...
@Retro: my avatar is that ship you'r talking about. yes it's not recognizable as this format is its "move" style, the armes were "suposed"( one version) to fold back for movement. but unfold the arms and you have you infamous Star :D
i think they fixed that problem with the new Engine... i hope *crosses fingers*
if you take a look at the Hiigaran ships, that's if you want to stay with the Hiigaran look, you'll notice that your ship doesn't really fit with the rest of the capital ships. not many have such big "extensions". im talking about the four "towers/wings" on which the pulse cannons are located.

Absolutely none whatsoever Ammon Ra. We don't rip-off 'Treck style designs (it's a nice model, it's just very obviously 'Trek inspired).

as i said
i dont have too much original hw2 textures yet and thus the hole thing can only be a hiigaran ship.
perhaps with vaygr textures (and lots of them) the ship would fit better. especially if u think about the vagyr destroyer. this ship also got 2 "sections".
give me a better model and i'll texture it...
hmm.. perhaps a "gilgamesh" destroer of wing commander 2 would fit better to hiigarans?
btw
does anybody need the hw2 textures i've got so far?
(taken from the anark models from homeworld2.com)

star trek??? well im not a trekkie myself, but i have no idea what you're refering to...dont look trekish to me :D
lend me the model, in any format (preferably *.obj) , and ill see if i can give it a more "hiigaran" feel to it. :)
mail it to me (if possibel w/o textures...as im worse in texture than in russian...infact, i dont know russian :D )
EDIT: if it's to fit with the any race, having some of their ships in front of you doesn't hurt at all.

model in dxf format:
http://www.silentthunder.de/temp/pulsardest.zip
(the engine sections could be decimated somewhat. they use too much vertices in the current model)

cool thanx, dfx..hope 3d explorer can open that format...should be able to.
might have a re-furbished model tomorow *crosses fingers* :D
