How about a new game, Homeworld : Total War. Where you can play any race mentioned in the previous games.

Each race would have their advantages and disadvantages.

how would you be able to play any cace in mp? there are only two to chose from...unless you fins a way to mod the number of selectable races in a Skirmish and mp games.

if that's possible, would be a great mod, and open up lot's of new and unexplored areas :D

1) Traditional Hiigarans, 2) Traditional Tidanii 3) Beast of Cataclysm, 4) Higarans of Cataclysm, 5) Turanic Raiders 6) Vaygr, 7) New Hiigarans 6) Kedashi

Each feel has a speciality, such as the Turanic Raiders could have superior salvaging or ship capturing abilities. Or the Kedashi could build swarms of fighers or drones.

it just depends how the game handles different races, and whether or not you can add new races to the game.

if it's modable enough to create a mod where you can select from a list of races, then that shouldn't be so dificult ;)

bentusi is a must, and maybe t-mat too, or the galactic council. but the again it would be sorta unbalanced because those three races would (possiby) be able to wipe out all the other races.

yeknow, t-mat = mysterious uber powerful race
bentusi = megaships + super acolyte + anything else that the bentusi can come up with.
i dunno bout galactic council tho.

I recall the developers talking about multiple motherships in multiplayer. So there may be more than two selectable races. The qustion is can we add to those?

Yeah, if there is no ship slots in hw2, maybe there's no race slots either. Omg that would be great. Infinite number of races! :D

I left out the bentusi because of their super-duper fighers. No telling what their ion frigates would do. Heck, maybe they have "gate-you" powers, where they teleport you out of the galaxy. Better yet, maybe they capture you and sell you to someone.

well, the thing with the ion-fighters was that they died more quickly than an equal number of acolytes against three MBF in cata. that's the balanced part. their ships are -reletivly- weak, armour wise. now adding the T-mat, or a race thatt's derived from the T-mat would be sweet ;)


the main problem with such a mod would definitly be balancing all the races out, so that no 1 race has a significant edge otver the rest. i.e. for bentusi ships, put high weapons damage, but low armour, and relativly low speeds/manouverability. while the T-mat relly more on "super ships" one T-m ICF might be able to take out three HIcfs but it would cost 3X as much as the Hiigaran counterpart. stuff like that.

also, if the beast are in it, then you have the problem of the beast-beam. not many ships were vulnerable to it. 2 fighters, 1vette, 3 frigs, the sentinel, and the worker. that's about it...
