View Full Version : British Infantry Mod Final Version(Ready For Download)

This was a 1 man project mod which alters the skins of all the infantry and edits their stats to be realistic. The mod also adds a few new units to the game as well as all the infantry models being reskinned to that of the british army in world war 2.

New skins are...


Engineers (Royal Marine Engineers Black berets with summer camo under the sleevless vest which is unchanged and they have the new riflemen trousers)
Riflemen, Weapons Teams and other vehicle crew(Uniforms like out of Dad's army which are just plain brown uniforms and green helmets)
Rangers (Now SAS, Same as the rifleman skin except the sleevless vest is untouched and they now have red berets)
Paratroopers (Summer camo for above waist, trousers are the same as the riflemens new ones and the squad members have summer camo helmets except for the sergeant who has a red beret)
Leuitenant from the command squad (now looks like a british officer)
All Infantry also have new face textures which add facial hair (A brown tash, Ginger beard and brown beard)
M1 Garand and Springfield Sniper Rifle (Changed to Lee Enfield rifle)
The M18 Recoilless Rifle(Changed to PIATS)

New Units are...


Smg Squad (5 man squad of 3 thompson weilding riflemen and 2 lee enfield riflemen)
Anti-Tank Squad (5 man squad of 2 lee enfield riflemen, 1 sergeant with a thompson and 2 paratroopers with PIATS)
Command Squad (3 man squad with 1 leutenant, 1 sergeant with a thompson and a ranger with a Lee Enfield. I Had trouble with the abilitie's but can throw grenades and do a force retreat action)
All Soldiers originaly with M1 carbines changed to have Lee enfields except the weapon's crew because it came up with an error if I did

Stats Edited...


I've edited the M1 Garand to be more like a Lee Enfield so i've upped the accuracy rates a bit and the reload frequancy and duration and the cooldown(Gap between shots)
K98 German Rifle was also edited to be more or less the same as the Garand except the reload frequancy and duration are lower and the accuracy is increased by a bit
Both rifles had their damage increased to realistic levels so that if someone gets shot their gonna know about it (up from 20 to 45-50)
note the damage is not overpowered in anyway
Riflemen and volks squads changed to 8 man squads
A rifleman\volks squad can take out a armoured car if their behind medium cover and are lucky but only one or 2 squad members will survive (this has been personaly tested)
All the Allies Name tags and help texts have been modified to be British

the red helmuts still look very weird.

And the bright yellow rifle doesnt do much for me either.

its a red helmet to simulate a red beret cuz i can't model one.
it does look right when u view it in game zoomed out thought.
and the rifle is supposed to be yellowish cuz then you can see the difference between the normal garand skin and this one.

you cant model, thats true, but you can texture.
First - eliminate the net from the helmet in the normal,occlusion,glossiness and specular map.
Darken the area of the helmet in the glossiness map, that it wont reflect.

and...most important: Cut out the form of a barret in the alpha map of the
diffuse...eg colour the cut areas black there.. then save it as dxt1 with 1 bit alpha.

et voila.... no more helmet.

For the parachuters: cut off the lower part of the helmet in alpha channel.

try out in CoH. If it doesnt suit you, try again. and again.

I think the British forces mod uses the same method, so did I with the German parachuters...

am i right in guessing you borrowed those rifle models from silent storm? they look very familiar, but they look like the springfields not enfields.

what the hell bob... you cannot have custom models yet dude. HOW can it be from Silent Storm? and they arent springfields, they are M1 Garands.... LOL

jeez, sorry! i just thought i recognized them. in that game they're bright yellow and look very similar to yours.

I like the idea behind this but why make Rangers equate to SAS? SAS were completely different and had very small, specialised units that were designed for a specific raiding purpose and were not general troops.
It would make more sense to equate them to Marine Commando units.
