Just a reminder that Jst-Online is the number one place to get your mod downloaded. It is the central area in which many mods can be found so if any of you are having or have some way down the line a need for somewhere to host your mod then Jst-Online is the place.
Just thought I would make the offer open at this crucial early stage of mod development. It means you have one less thing to worry about while planning you mod (you can concentrate on modding and not where its going to be hosted).
Finally, even if you don't need any space for the mod, please please please remember to drop me a line to tell me where its at so i can add it to the Jst-Online collection (with your permission). That will save me some time hunting you down and emailing you :loco:

kind of a mod database so that if ever the original site were to go offline and all downloads gone, then your site is kind of a backup. you should point out to all new mod starters in a pm maybe about this because i only chanced about your site by accident when reading old forum messages...

The point of this thread is to remind people. It is impossible to PM all mod authors that will appear in the next few months so I will inform them via threads like these :talk:
Indeed Zefram that is one of the functions of my site, and believe it or not you would be surprised how often downloads go offline. The author of the freespace 2 mod for hw emailed me the other day thanking me for keeping his work as he no longer had it and his website was down. My copy was the only one in existence!

On the other hand, if you want a full website, E-mail, forum space, file script etc as WELL as simply space for downloads... www.Homeworldangels.com can accomodate you for the price of a normal advert banner.
Just a plug since someone else seems to be plugging his site...

Actually i am not plugging my site at all. I am not offering a hosting service for a website etc. Rather i am reminding people that Jst-Online is the Homeworld / Cataclysm and soon to be Homeworld 2 mod collection. If people need a mirror, then they got one, if people need to have their actual mod put on there then they have it. The collection of old and new mods is getting bigger all the time and it is a good place to get your mod seen and played due to a reasonable fan base.

Sos falcon but i take "plugging" a site to mean advertising it in the aim of getting people to use your service.
Your post is a clear plug. It attempts to outdo my original statement and has a slightly different purpose to the post I made.On the other hand, if you want a full website, E-mail, forum space, file script etc as WELL as simply space for downloads... www.Homeworldangels.com can accomodate you for the price of a normal advert banner. However, you will find my post is simply informing people that there is a website with a mod base already established and that that would be a good place to consider putting a mod. You may say that my post was also "advertising...in the aim of getting people to use [a] service." however the following is the difference between my post and yours.
----An analogy----
Mine is the equivalent of saying "version 0.6 of the raiders ascendant mod is out, it has been around for a while, has had some sturdy releases, I.E Jst-Online is experienced in the catering for modders needs and is genuinely trying to help the modding community."
Yours (as i take it) is the equivalent of saying "version 0.6 of the raiders ascendant mod is out, look i have a new mod and im pluggin my mod cos i want everyone to play my mod and no one elses. I.E Homeworld Angels is superior and shame on that Scottismo bloke cos he's trying to make everyone go to him.
----End of analogy----
A very minor and yet crucial difference. Granted, you didn't not mean it as severely as i make out, you are simply taking the oppurtunity to promote your site by jumping on the bandwagon when i "promoted" mine however I just didnt like the last bit "Just a plug since someone else seems to be plugging his site..." as it implied something negative towards my intentions and totally devalued the point i was trying to make. If you wanted to make a plug, you should have done it in a new thread. Sos if i appear harsh im not trying to be at all, i considered not posting this reply and letting it go as i dont want fire on my back but i just wanted to express the intentions of the post i made and that it was not a plug at least in my definition of the term. Perhaps i am also far to defensive of my site as it has had more than its fair share of criticism.
I like your design for the site, hope everything turns out good in it. I think Rebel, one of your staff has applied in one of my threads to help out at my site too so maybe somewhere down the line we can help eachother out.
Until then......peace :Pimp:
P.S
Try not to derail this thread guys otherwise i might aswell delete it due to not serving the purpose i intended it for! :insane:

i didnt think you were allowed to advertise on the forums anyway?
scottismo's idea is a good one and provides every mod with some security for the future

... so long as you leave the file EXACTLY the same as the original and dont repack it or create your own installers for them... thats ok...
