Hi. Since its possible that i can use diffrent skins in Multiplayer without using the -dev thing i started to tweak my rangers a bit. I just gave them camo vests and added some little detail. After looking through Halftracks Skinpack pictures i discovered that he used the same sample of camo for his sniper as i did for my rangervests. (i found that sample on the web...its a "jungle" camo from Ž42 )
DOWNLOAD HERE : CLICK (http://files.filefront.com/BLKRANGERrar/;6308280;;/fileinfo.html)
The pack NOW features : ALL allied buildings camoed up, Rangers with camoed vests and other changes, weathered/usedlook Halftrack/M10 Wolverine/Sherman...
Well here is what i got until now :

I also started to change the face textures to more battle hardened veterans than the "boyish" faces the got now. Also started to put some camo netting over the allied MG nests....:bricks:

Alllright. Added the Download link to the first post. Just copy the file into your mod and extract...should work.
I started to change the face textures on the rangers as i mentioned above. I came across the idea to use real photos and then work em over abit. I just started with those little changes and iam sure noone will mention them in normal game. But...anyway. I had fun doing them. Hope you enjoi playing them as much as i did editing them.
Have fun

After spending hours of reserarching the web for camo used by the allies i gave up. But not really. I started to apply some weathering/worn out effects to some vehicles. I added them to the rangerskinpack. If anyone here has information of camo used on Allies tanks...that whould be helpfull....Anyhow...heres a teaser :

omg looks so cool its not funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for v1.4 of KMOD i had planned a "hardened Veteran" squad (lol sound familiar Guard players?) that uses captured Axis ewapons as well as US weapons. they need face camo and darker camo for thier uniform, in fact a black night camo would be awesome for these guys. like british SAS style lol with beenies and black camo. in fact, i might as well make them british!
P.S i can host files for you

Farout work. I have recently searched or some allied camo patterns,, too. But didnt find anything useful, except of the US Marine Corps Camo, that they used
in Pacific theatre. Vehicles were sometimes painted in camo, then sand brown or dark greygreen (almost black ) was used mostly. Tents and stuff werent camoed, but what the heck, it looks cool. :D

Hehehe... allr ight... downloaded it :rofl::awesome:
But I have to wait till today evening before i can try it... :-\:Oogle:
still some ordinary work here to do.. :coffee::rolleyes:
But anyway: are there except the M10 and Halftrack any weathering
effects on the Shermans, Pershings, other vehicles?
or is this just to get some first feedback from the crowd? ;):xmas:
BlackLabel
6th Dec 06, 5:10 AM
mhhh....i guess thats doable. Oh and the Sherman is part of the pack...forgot to mentioned that. And yeah...all feedback is welcome.
DeaconFrost
6th Dec 06, 5:30 AM
oh, great, Shermans too! :awesome:
I only mentioned that, because on the first page where the download link and content describtion is given, only M10 and Halftrack is mentioned.. :crazy:

I did yesterday a game with the new skins... first impression: Absolutely awesome! :awesome::slow:
on the second look it seems, that the camo colors are a tiny bit to dark...
I don't know, on your pics they look generally a bit brighter and better :p
but that's not decreasing the game fun in any way! :corn:

@ BlackLabel
Dear BlackLabel
i was asked to forward this question from the CoH forum of http://www.hq-coh.com/
There is the problem that the blue for own units, yellow for team units and red for enemy units color schema ruins the feeling of your skins :err:
http://people.freenet.de/hellboy999/coh1.jpg
http://people.freenet.de/hellboy999/coh2.jpg
Is there a way to get rid of those markings?? ;)
Many many thanks in advance and greetz,
Deacon

7th Dec 06, 3:26 AM
yes there is. its called "teamcolours" you can change them to un-retarded bright colours to nice, dark, simple colours. find the "teamcolours.lua" of a mod, or make yourr own and edit the .lua file with notepad. change the numbers to lower, darker numbers.
these are the colours i use for my mod KMOD:
team_colours =
{
{ -- self
colour = { 65, 65, 40 },
tint = 0,
badge="Wolfhead.tga"
},
{ -- ally
colour = { 220, 171, 0 },
tint = 0,
badge="Wolfhead.tga"
},
{ -- enemy
colour = { 85, 65, 35 },
tint = 0,
badge="Wolfhead.tga"
},
{ -- neutral
colour = { 128, 128, 128 },
tint = 0,
badge="Wolfhead.tga"
},
}
this gives both youi and the enemy a dark olive style colour, and fits very nice with Blacklabel's skins. i kept the allied player as yellow, to help distinguish them.

7th Dec 06, 11:59 PM
Absolutely awesome! that beats the normal MG nest by 3000%
Those are understatements, I dont think anyone can beat your work. Good job, maybe a close up on the sherman?

8th Dec 06, 1:15 AM
Thanks for ze flowers. Iam never happy with my skins...never. I allways find some things that might be carryed out diffrent. Nevertheless SHERMAN :
http://www.maj.com/gallery/Skinny/Panzers/CoH/CoHmodding/shermz.jpg
Sadly through the lazy allies dont use that much cameo on their tanks. Maybe i give it a shot because iam a littlebored right now after skinning so many german panzers.
SIG21_Surgeon
8th Dec 06, 1:45 AM
Yep! I totally agree to that. Reskinning the allied tanks is quite boring. Had to be carefull not to add to much, there was just nothing to do.

8th Dec 06, 12:07 PM
I am having a problem. I want to use the skins, but I don't want the rangers to use them. I want my new unit to use them.
And I cannot get it right. Can someone help me. Oh yeah the Sherman looks good.
BlackLabel
8th Dec 06, 6:00 PM
Iam not exactly sure if you can clone a unit and then give em another appereance than the original one. I think i read this involves HEX-Editing. BUT...if i remember correctly Corsix ( god praise his mother ) said that this whould be part of the next modtool release.:err:
Homestar_Killer
9th Dec 06, 8:13 AM
Oh ok thank you.
Kyranzor
9th Dec 06, 9:33 PM
indeeeed i cant wait. i have no idea how hex editing works, so i must rely on Corsix-das-wunder-kindt to supply us with a nice fat juicy model importer/skin thingo
Happy_the_Hobo
11th Dec 06, 10:38 AM
:wave: Well in terms of different skins for the allies you could always do them for north africa, right now I am currently doing that along with hex editing the models to use different skins, so I am trying to create US tanks for north africa in a tanish color to be used by british infantry. I think it would be nicer if you did them for every mod team to use them.

Very impressive , excellent work.
Quick question , I noticed you can change the team colors from the default blue , red etc , is there a way to disable them? or make them transparent? cause it look like on your screen shots Black Label , there not even there.
Kyranzor
11th Dec 06, 10:41 PM
he removed them via skinning. he skinned them out

has anyone figured out how to skin the hq. I cant find it. I found all the other buildings they are on the same layout but the hq is nowhere to be found
Sooth
30th Dec 06, 3:37 AM
Could be because the HQs are different... I would even say randomized. You know how you don't get a preview of the HQ in the mapmaker. Still there are a few HQ variants in the buildings thingie. Try and reskin those (theyre in buildings/normandy rural/industrial/urban).

Fantastic skins, but is the blue supposed to show up over the camo? It would look so much better without the blue.

Are you including flags in this mod, or will it leave existing flags alone (I've only just got the damn things to work properly!)
Damn good work though, I love the more weathered look to the troops and vehicles, adds a lot to the look of the game.
