I found out tonight that the Starforce virus was on my system. I don't know how it got there, I haven't installed anything from them since.............................................. March.

I removed it about 10 minutes ago. Now, when I start up Dark Crusade it goes fine untill it starts to load the game..... then all of a sudden it crashes. I have the AI mod installed, but wasn't starting with it, just vanilla DC.

Relic games dont use Starforce. Its from a publisher like Ubisoft, Deepsilver or Enlight.

Games list can be found here (http://www.glop.org/starforce/list.php)

It also depends on how you removed it. Did you try using the official removal tool (http://www.star-force.com/protection.phtml?c=70)

Dark Crusade doesn't use a copy protection mechanism, in fact you can play the game without having the DVD in your drive. You must have contracted StarForce from another game.

Removing it can cause your computer to do strange things. I strongly suggest you contact StarForce tech assistance.

No no no, that's not what I meant. The problem is that Starforce got onto me system yesterday, and removing it causes DC to crash right after the intro. Prior to SF being on my system, and prior to me removing it, it was working fine (though slower and CoH was crashing allot - only yesterday).

I don't have anything that uses SF on my system, no idea how it got there, and have removed it since, but DC was crashing on me.

DC crashing after the introduction is because of a wobbly install of that game, I had a few problems with crashing at the same point due to something I never tracked down. Firstly, try repairing DC to eliminate that as a cause.... Insert your DC disc, then select "Uninstall". Then when the next option window appears, chose "Repair". Let it do it's think, and see if DC starts up properly now.

I just tried it, but now it won't even start the game. It gives the hour glass thing for a second then stops :(

Will try reinstall next.

I think a reinstall is the way to go.
