Any ideas? I'm hoping it's going to be a game, and I know he loves RTS and FPS. He has a fairly new computer so anything is fine.

I was looking through amazon and there was this great deal for Civilizations + expansion for 56 dollars, and was wondering, how is it? So far, I've played the Demo and it has some depth but seems really short.

It seems as though everything takes a really long time to build but also time progressess really fast. Within 100 turns, I reached the low BCs and had barely 3 settlements!

How many turns are there? How good is the replayability? Unit diversity?

I also heard about Warlords and it's scenarios and it sounds interesting. Is there any scenarios for the original?

Other deals I have seen on Amazon include FEAR and Quake 4.

It was meant to be Civ 4 :P. Woops.

He already has M2TW. I know he has Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, Steam games, the Blizzard games, Call of Duty 2, Battlefield 2, BfME2, bleh bleh. He has lots of games ><.

If you get him Civ 4 don't expect to see him at New Years. Or for the rest of 07 for that matter

LOL. That bad?

I thought he'd like it. He enjoyed playing Hearts of Iron 2 on my computer, and they are sort of alike.

If he doesn't have homeworld, or Company of Heroes, you may want to get him one or the other. Both are excellent games.

FEAR and Extraction Point (FEAR ex game) are both excellent for atmospheric, FPS blow-up-the-baddies and creepy, wet yourself in fright goodness.

Also listen to the guy with the chick's name.

Hows it's multiplayer? From what I read both FEAR and Quake has good single player, so who has best multiplayer?

What about Civ 4?

Medieval 2: Total War is a great choice for any RTS fan.

Sorry mate, no personal threads (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=5704). Which is why I'm locking this thread, *but* starting a more general "Gift ideas for gamers (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=127353)" thread that everyone can really participate in.
