View Full Version : [DC] Strange Blood Glitch

This bug didn't happen in DoW or WA, but just started occuring with the installation of DC (I've tried reinstalling to fix this).

One of the blood animations (the more verticle one) goes in super-slow motion. It gives the appearance of a floating sheet of blood that fades away after a few seconds (it probably is supposed to fades after 1 second or less).

I have some screenshots but I don't know how to link them on this forum o.O


I run a 2.6ghz
1gb of RAM
Radeon 9250 256mb (I know it sucks, but I can't get any better till I upgrade) with drivers up to date as far as ATI supports my particular card.

The game itself runs fine for me, it's just this one blood animation...at first when I started playing I thought it was just some special necron laser effect, but it happens no matter who does the shooting :|

Interesting - it could be helpful to see this - use an image hosting website like imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us) to upload your screenshot/s.

Looking at your system, it is unlikely to be due to that slowing down - it is most likely a setting within your graphics setup.

You could attempt this possible fix (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=78012)

With Dark Crusade or with WA and the original as well? I don't recall having this problem with any of the other versions.

I'm trying to update my drivers as we speak...had some issues and am having to do a clean install :P

Edit: I updated with the ones from the ATI website and the drivers didn't change. They updated the Catalyst program apparently, but not the actual drivers. The glitch remains.

Ok, try and download this driver (https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/6-5_xp-2k_dd_32464.exe) - its a 'Display Driver only', so won't update the Catalyst, for the record its not the latest driver, but it is still far more recent than the one you are using.

Did you uninstall your old drivers by the way, before installing the latest?

As for that link, just navigate to the latest drivers, then click on 'previous drivers' on the bottom of the page in the middle, select Catalyst 6.5 from May, then click on the Display Driver only.

Hrm...I downloaded those display drivers, uninstalled the ATI Display Drivers (using the ADD/REMOVE Programs, restart) then I installed the new drivers (restart), but nothing seems to have changed. DirectX is listing the same May date as the drivers and the bug is still there.

Eh, it might be unfixable with this graphics card (though I don't know why it would be occuring with Dark Crusade but now any of the previous incarnations of the game...), but I'm going to build a new computer soon.
