K.. So i just recently got my comp upgraded with a dvd rom and a new graphics card so i can play Dark Crusade.
But durinng the game my comp seems to want to pause, it makes a clicking sound twice then goes back to game and does it non stop and random points. Mainly off the start tho. The box says it minimum CPU is 2.0 Ghz mine is 1.8 its not that bad. But shouldn't my comp handle it haveing a new Graphics card?
Any help? Thanks to you if you can help.

Sounds like some software running in the background is causing issues.
http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=57900 will be a good starting point.

No. The only thing I put on in the background would be msn or xFire which came with dark crusade. Which I have turned off both and it doesn't make a difference.
post the logs please.
Is the clicking noise coming through the speakers or from the PC itself?

CLicking is coming from the PC. My speakers arnt on. So it can only be the PC.

If possible to isolate the sound, is it originating from :
- Hard Drive, perhaps a mechanism error or a read error
- Optical Drive, read or mechanism error.
- PC Speaker, the internal tweeter speaker usually mounted inside the front of your PC Casing.

im guessing its my proccesor or graphics card something on those lines. ive think its a graphics card probally. My last graphics card wasnt as strong as this one and this new one needs a connection to the power supply where the old one didnt. THink its a lack of power?

What graphics card are you using?
Some of the more recent cards require 2 connections to the Power Supply Unit, make sure both of these are connected.

IM using the Ati Radeon 9800 Series Pro
I wasnt the one to install. ALtho I checked over and made sure the one was plugged in. I think in the book it showed there to be a second connection but i couldnt see the wire or place on the diagram so im guessing only one connection. If you know anything on that graphics card. And could let me know if i do need 2 cables

Hmm, the Radeon 9800 are notoriously a loud GFX card, I will look into this further, but I am 95% sure the noise was most likely a common issue which most users of the 9800 will experience in intensive applications.

loud as in fans or example of my clicking i seem to hear from it? if thats what is making the clicking sound
Have you opened the case yet? If something is stuck in one of the fans, such as a cable, it would result in a clicking sound whenever the fans hit it.

In one of my machines I can note a clicking sound - it originates from two sources.
Firstly my Radeon X800XT - when the card's fan is running full speed it rattles.
Secondly, to avoid the annoying motherboard CPU-fan Autodetect (due to Water Cooling), I have attached a spare Fan to the inside of the case attached to the CPUFan1 Motherboard socket.
This fan is an open topped fan, and hence, sometimes the AudioOut from my Optical drive clips the fan blades as it spins (and if it spins at 3000RPM, you can imagine how noisy this can be).
Your motherboard might have diagnostic software which lets you monitor voltage, fanspeed and temperature of most critical components from the comfort of Windows. Can you check to see if you have this available to install, or installed already - ingame, or next time it crashes, it would be beneficial to look closely at the values it quotes to see if the problem can be further narrowed down.
Also - your warnings.log and dxdiag report (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=57900) would be a major help in attempting to solve this issue, please can you provide them?

Did you run Dawn of War or Winter Assault prior to the upgrades, and did they run well?
Sometimes adding another optical drive can cause strange system faults - as a test, disconnect your CD Drive and use only your DVD-RW drive (set to master of course).
If that doesn't change anything, can you download (http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/) that tool and run it, and post what it says please?
