Hey all,
I'm having trouble installing Winter Assault - I keep getting an error message about a file - WXP\WXPData.sga - telling me to check it exists and that I can access it.
The file is there alright but windows (XP) will not recognise or allow me to open it!
I've tried reinstalling DOW and patches but with no success.
Anyone have an idea how to fix this??
All help greatly appreciated,
Thanks

First thing you can try is to attempt to copy the CD contents to the harddrive and run it from there.
Another possible fix : Try download this (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=36dd19df-bc5e-44b7-a339-6794d97994a2&DisplayLang=en) - It's a service pack 2 update that fixes possible installer issues.
Also run this tool (http://discinfo.rpc1.org/) and if possible, find what Firmware verson you have.

Thanks GroundZero -
Tried all of the above but no joy - couldn't copy one of the files from Disc 2 onto my hard drive due to a "...cyclic redundancy error..." (?)
No regional locks, service pack 2 installed successfully
How do I find out what Firmware I have?
Still keep getting the same message when I try to install
Any more suggestions??

That tool that i linked in my post above, the final link, download it and run. Select your optical drive and your firmware version will be displayed.
A dxdiag report (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=57900) will be useful for me here too, if you would be so kind.
If your Disk or Disk drive are dirty, I would also advise cleaning them.
Unfortunately a Cyclic Redundancy Error tends to hint at a file corruption. If it was a patch, I would say to re-download it. However, it is the CD - if nothing else works everything is pointing to your CD being corrupt (error during the manufacturing process) - and as such, are entitled to a new one.

Ahh, got it - Firmware Version 1.06
I've attached DxDiag (cannot cut and paste it for some reason to do with config files and Firefox).
Disc looks OK (brand new), don't know about the drive itself.

I believe you have a fairly up-to-date Firmware for your NEC DVDRW drive.
I believe this is most likely going to be a corrupted disk - contact the supplier of the game for an exchange if possible.

Ah well, sounds like thats the plan then.
Thanks for the help Ground Zero, you're the kind of man a man wants when a man wants a man.
I'll be back with a fully-installed new disc!
