Alright im embarrased to say ive been playing this game since 1.1. Ive seen this game through thick and thin. And unfortunatly i feel its been a huge waste due to the unfullfilled promises made by the relic staff (i.e continued support).

I seriously hate to rant, but someone has got to do something about this unspoken goliath of a problem. It already takes forever to get a game going due to the small population of dow, but it can be multiplied by ten fold potentially by the boot bug, and when you finally get a game together you have someone drop.

Not to mention that now with dc, instead of getting kicked out of the game and into the lobby i get kicked offline meaning more time and hassle. Also now almost every #)($*# game i play the game finally fills up with people and at the very last second i get hit with the bootbug and someone steals my spot.

I miss games now on a regular basis. How is this boot bug problem and dropping getting worse with age? How did this make into the finished product at all? doesnt relic playtest things before they release them?

Once again, I hate to rant, but ive already withheld buying any Relic entertainment products that i would have otherwise purchased due to this example alone. If they cant handle this game that has multiple expansions how can they be trusted to handle something new?

Oh and i have my ports open already, but would appreciate any tips that might help me resolve this issue, altho im a little pessimistic after all the things ive attempted in the past.

EDIT: and i realize gamespy is a big issue here, but when it comes down to it: its all relics responsibility. I guess im asking for better code to be writen and a miricle to happen or something, but after all this time and having yet another expansion come out i guess i feel like we deserve something for staying with them this long and purchasing thier defective products (it fails more than it works).

This topic seems like it would be more at home in the Dawn of War Discussion area.

If you have your ports open and you can verify this (by using this tool (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=63593)), then that leaves your ISP.
From personal experience, people drop out of games regularly, and are 'kick bugged' from the game commonly too.
The kickbug occurs due to a timeout between communication between the host and the user in the game.
Caching and the game loading screen is perhaps the most intensive part of the game, as the greater majority of files are placed in RAM and unpacked onto the HDD. Therefore it is understandable why this is perhaps a time when people are most likely to drop, either due to multitasking and timing out, system overheating, or a bottleneck effect.

The other issue here is that Gamespy is hosting - it is nothing to do with Relic.

Which leads me onto this: Do you have an actual problem - can you not join or play in any games or was this intended as a discussion/complaint thread?

ya im able to get into a game eventually, bout the same as everyone else from my observations, but its still WAY below my lowest expectations. I would say this was meant for discussion purposes, because god knows that if they havent actually addressed this issue by now, thier not going to, but its turned into a last goodbye because im getting too frustrated with dealing with this program in general.

That having been said, why do i get booted offline now, where as before i would just get kicked into the lobby? And why now can i almost count on the fact that the boot bug hits as soon as the game fills? It was more random before and i always had time to get back into the game, but now its on a 50% basis that i miss games at the very last second. And sometimes it happens as the game is actually counting down, but usually its as soon as the last player actually enters the room, or everyone actually clicks in.

I dont know about the timing out thing tho. How can you time out as soon as you log in? Is it possible to timeout when you've been online for (LESS) than 5 seconds? How long does it take to time out? milliseconds?

And as to gamespy hosting; relic is the one to pinch the penny here and not test gamespy's setup, so i do see where the problem literally lies, but the responibility is not gamespy's its relics. They pay the bill in the end, if gamespy was this problematic, then relic should have their heads examined before signing a contract.

What router?

Can you post a log file from http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt?

Can you google for, and download lspfix.exe, then post what you see on the keep side?

Note that Relic's ditching gamespy for Quazal, which is new, and has it's own issues.
