whenever i play multiplayer i get a "Sync - Error" about 2 seconds after the beginning of the game, and it then closes when i quit the game to windows and the error report screen comes up. relic must be full to the brim with all the error reports ive been sending them.
how can i sort this out? reinstalling seemed to work for a bit, but then it just started again. i seem to have a defective copy of dawn of war, as i am experiencing some major problems...
here was my result of running the net test thing (http://66.134.89.225/~sic/nettest.html):
Sending udp packet from 6112 to 6112

From your nettest log, it is apparent that your Ports are being blocked by something. It is possible that this is the cause of your Sync Errors.

Firstly, have you played multiplayer online normally before this occurred?

Secondly, follow this guide (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=113920) for assistance as to how you can open ports on your Router to enable these ports.
If you have no Router, I would advise looking closely at your Firewall's and attempting to open their ports. If you cannot for whatever reason, attempt to disable/turn off the Firewalls and test the game then.

i have played quite a few multiplayer games that have worked, but i will try to open the ports. i know absolutely nothing about this business with ports and routers, though.

i have Norton antivirus. do you think that disabling that while i play will make it work?

Anti-virus is unlikely to conflict with gaming ports unless it is updating itself - usually the Firewalls attached to Norton and other devices/software will have a more detrimental effect on online gaming.

Anyway, follow that guide as best as you can and test the game afterwards, then report back and we'll see if there is any change.

i have a problem, you won't be able to solve it though. i need to find the password for this website the guide tells you to go on, and i may need a little while. thanks for your help though groundzero

I found the skirmish AI mod screwed up my online play in exactly the same way. Try uninstalling any mods you have loaded on your system.
