Preparation
1. Trim off the mould lines and excess pewter from the model components.
2. Test the pieces to see if they all fit where they were supposed to.
3. Piece by piece, i assembled the model, firstly a dab of super glue on both sides of the joint, then enough green stuff to fit in the gap, allowing me excess to make the seam be virtually invisible.
4. When the model's green stuff was dry, i gave each seal a thin layer of super glue, further adding to the strength of the bond.
5. I decided upon a more traditional paint scheme - similar to the one on the front of the box.
Painting
1. I applied a reserved coat of Chaos Black Spray Paint, making sure everywhere was coated but not too thick.
2. The easiest part now; i drybrushed the cloak/robe in the following order : Chaos Black + Fortress Grey 1:1 ratio > Chaos Black + Fortress Grey 1:2 ratio > Skull White + Fortress Grey 1:1. (this gave a defined edge to the robes, don't worry about the overpowering contrast here, it will be brought down later).
3. Carefully, observing how the chest of the model looks like, banding was applied using very subtle layers.
it goes in this order from the very horizontal base of the muscle and 1/3rd of the way up the middle side of the muscle...
Chaos Black
Black + Codex Grey 2:1
Black + Codex Grey 1:1
Black + Fortress Grey 1:1
Skull White + Fortress Grey 1:2
Skull White (very fine line)
relatively thick Chaos Black line shaped like the Nike tick.
Very fine line of Codex Grey
Very fine line of Fortress Grey
Very fine line of Skull White.
You must do that for his pecks and abs, and for the major muscles in his arms and right leg.
Follow a similar method for the edging of his face, building up the Black -> White colours.
4. Now comes the fun part...
Mix up Chaos Black with water, roughly a 1:2 mixture (very thin).
Add to this, some 'ardcoat varnish.
Sparingly apply this layer to the Nightbringers Robes/Cloak, it will darken the drybrushing and should give it an immaculate gleam.
5. When that is dry (give it an hour to be sure), mix the following...
Shadow Grey + Water 1:3. - Very thin mixture.
Carefully with this mixture, go around the remaining edges of the muscles that have not been shaded/edged, effectively completed the top edge and the remaining edge of every main muscle. A few coats may be necessary here to get the required blue effect.
6. Pick out the Nightbringer's eyes with Golden Yellow; when this is dry, attempt to cover an ellipse-shaped 3/4 of the eye with Blazing Orange.
7. On the Nightbringer's body, mix up the following :
Chaos Black + Water 1:3 (very thin)
add 'ardcoat.
Apply sparingly. on the body. - this will darken the colour tones.
And there you should have it... an effective metallic-y blue Nightbringer.
The Base
For the base, you can choose whether or not to stick to the supplied Necron Scarab swarm, or to design your own unique base. I chose to model a Space Marine who had been flayed directly down the centre - removing his power armour and central body structures, leaving only bone. The green glow was decided last minute, since the Gauss is an alien technology, we do not know of its effects post-battle - so I designed mine to leave a radiation effect.

Personally, Desert Sand contrasts well with the Necron army as a whole, however, to keep with the mysterious and bizarre physical embodiment that is the Nightbringer, I opted to spray the base black, after giving it a coat of PVA Glue then applying sand.
Then, working up the drybrushing from Codex Grey - Shadow Grey - Skull White.

The Deceiver is roughly the same sort of method for painting, however, sticking to the Bronze, Copper, Gold and Silver end of the Metallic spectrum.
