(For Moderators) If this does not belong in the "Technical Issues" forum, please move as necessary. This isn't so much a technical issue as me wanting to pimp out my graphics setting.
Alright, I added the -forcehighpoly line after the line in the Target box of Dark Crusade properties, but I actually can't tell if the graphics have improved. What I DID notice was that when I changed the Model textures from the Options Menu in the in-game Main Menu, the game did NOT force me to restart. Normally, this is what happens when changing the Model textures (new settings require that you restart the game) but after adding the -forcehighpoly line I did not have to restart. Is this indicative of the fact that -forcehighpoly is in effect? If not, how do I determine (besides looking, obviously) that I added -forcehighpoly correctly?
Secondly, I have no clue how to activate fullres teamcolor. According to the helpful FAQ posted by Moe:
1) Open Explorer.
(2) Navigate to your DoW folder (default is C:\Programs\THQ\Dawn of War)
(3) Find a file called local.ini. It might just display as local without the .ini part depending on your settings.
(4) Right-click on it. Select "open with" from the menu, and then find "editor" or "notepad" in the list of suggested programs. Click open.
(5) You will now get an editor window that shows the content of your local.ini file. It should look something like this:
Alright, apparently I'm having difficulty finding the Dawn Of War folder. I go to Local Disk, then Program Files, then THQ, then Dawn Of War Dark Crusade. But now, when I try to find the "Local" file, it turns out I have half a dozen or so, scattered across a multitude of files. None of them are labeled ".ini" at the end (although Moe did warn against this) furthermore, the only contents in them are just a file labeled "English" when I right click on any of these files, I cannot find an "open with" option on the menu. There is an "open" function, obviously, but I cannot find any sort of program to open it (be it editor or notepad) how do I access the files where I can add the numerical "1" value to "fullres_teamcolor" ? Is there an easier way?
Any constructive assitance would be appreciated
P.S. I have a Dell and run Windows XP
