I just got 3ds max 8 and now want too make models in homeworld 2 is there any plug ins or anything else that can help me please direct me to any site known for this kind of thing.
And also is there any ap's that can convert the HOD files into OBJ files so I can use and edit them in MAX would be very helpful.
Thanks.

CFHodEd can do that for you. (Conversion of OBJ to HOD, vice versa, and also HOD editing)
Also you will need the Max2Obj and Obj2Max plugins; extract the attached archive to your ..\Autodesk\3dsmax8\stdplugs\ directory.

IF there is a version compatibility problem, then use the packed version (installer) and then copy over the latest exe over the original exe at the location where you installed CFHodEd.

Those are the last words before your post :P
what?? no easier is to download a copy of <title of .ocx>.OCX and u need to stick it in ur system 32 folder in windows, this is a common problem and u will find ur self contiusly place files in there oh and after go to start -> run and type:
regsvr32 \windows\system32\<title of .ocx>.OCX

this is a space here(people always miss it
the reason being alot of programs create to do these sort of things require a couple of .ocx files and it best to get it sort striaght away.

to your osx problem
1. you can find it in google
2. you can also stick it in the same folder as hodEd and it works

Ah, another thing, I'm not sure whether this applies here or not.
I use wings3d for moddeling, and then 3ds max 7 for UV mapping etc, but I always face a problem with CFHodEdit when I use 3ds7's native obj export.
Whenever I import the model, it analyses the data fine, tells me exact polygons etc but when I try to view it, all there is is a white triangle which confused me for a while.
So I export as obj, import into wings3d and then export as an obj again and it appears fine, don't know whether that helps but it might :).
