hi guys
im having problems with maya 6.5 and the hod exporter. When ever i export to hod even with the carrier in the RDN files the textures and materials dont export even though i get no error or warning messages and would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and knoes how to fix it.

Might sound odd... do you have the shaders set up properly (ex. do they have entries for '$diffuse' and '$glow')?
Even materials aren't exported? Is there even a single material which is assigned to the mesh? Or are you accidentally selecting "Particle" or "Wireframe" mesh export?

all im doing is opening the carrier.ma file in the rdn docs and exporting all in scene to a hod file

But I don't think the export settings are modified when the file is changed... I think your export option is selected as 'Wireframe' or 'Particle' (Mostly particle)

the way it works for maya is like this.
You create a psd LAYERED image. Tex or background having no colour ( black and white) then team being 80% opacity and stripe above that. All the details ( coloured parts, dirt etc) in the diffuse layer and lasty the glow layer. This layer is the really the reflective index of the textures.
Simple way to do all of this is to install the psd action tools relic supplied on the rdn files. Use the unexported version and run the scripts.
There is another way though.
In maya you can select what textures you want, tga files. You will have to edit the phong shader a bit with scipe to add in stripe and team but it isnt really needed as you can have a base image but you will figure this all out with some messing around.
Last of all, keep plugging away you will get the hang of it
