Hello, first post in Tech Assist.

Recently I extracted the engine.sga file to look at some of the camera.lua's. When I had done my fiddling I started Dark Crusade but it skipped straight to the 'Dawn of War: Dark Crusade | Please wait, Loading...' screen, bypassing the Relic Entertainment, THQ, NVIDIA and Dark Crusade Inroduction videos.

Just to establish the facts, no I do not have -dev activated, and the videos from the campaigns still work fine. Anyone know what I've done and how I can sort it?

[Edit]: As the sticky suggests, here is my warnings.log file:

Check and see if the movie files are there.

-forcehighpoly might skip the movies as well. Did you try removing it?

Here is a screenshot of my 'Program Files/THQ/Dawn of War - Dark Crusade/Engine/Movies' folder:
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/933/moviesfolderut7.th.png (http://img404.imageshack.us/my.php?image=moviesfolderut7.png)

Are those all the movies?

I shall now try removing -forcehighpoly.

[Edit]: Removing -forcehighpoly made no difference I'm afraid. It still skipped straight to this screen:

It's not a major problem, though it is rather annoying. I love that intro :(.

make sure -nomovies isnt in the shortcut either.

Wasabi
6th Feb 07, 2:36 PM
If it was it wouldn't play the campaign movies either.

Here is how the shortcut looks at the moment:
"C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War - Dark Crusade\DarkCrusade.exe"

ÜberJumper

No, it would play campaign movies if it was in the shortcut, just not the opening ones.

It's not on anyway, you can tell from the warnings.log file.

You're not hitting escape or anything? That would bypass the movies.

oh... also isn't there an in game setting to allow you to skip the intro movies?

What are the contents of your local.ini file?

Wasabi

The local.ini file is as follows:

There must be a file lying around that's preventing the movies from playing. I suspect it's probably an autoexec.lua file of some kind in the root DoW directory.

Have you tried simply reinstalling the game? or is there some reason you don't want to?

Wasabi
7th Feb 07, 12:12 AM
I'll try that now. Just have to make sure I preserve my Banners, Badges, ReSkins, Army Schemes and Save Games :p.

[Edit]: Uninstalling, then re-installing Dawn of War: Dark Crusade did not work. It still skips straight to the loading screen. And that was before I put the Save Games, etc. back in.
This is quite odd.

After you uninstalled, did you delete the old install directory? Did you install to a new directory?

Wasabi
8th Feb 07, 12:24 AM
Same old directory, 'Program Files/THQ/Dawn of War - Dark Crusade'. I didn't manually delete it. I used 'Add or Remove Programs'.

ÜberJumper

Make sure you manually delete the directory. If the file that was causing it to not play was not added by the original install, it wouldn't have been deleted by add/remove programs.

Wasabi

Gah, stupid thing. Ok will try this now :p.

[Edit]: Ok, copied everything I wanted to keep, uninstalled with Add/Remove, deleted everything in the directory and the directory itself. Reinstalling :).

[Edit2]: It works perfectly! Thanks ÜberJumper, brother-horus and Adimas for your support and suggestions.

Love that intro so much :p.

You're welcome, it'd be interesting to know what file it was!

Hi all!
Uberjumper, maybe the culprit was:
http://dawnofwar.filefront.com/file/No_Intro_Movie;33954
I hope this helps resolve future similar problems.
