View Full Version : DC LAN Multi Player Connection Issue
Hi,
Ive got two machines, 2 "proper" versions of DC and a good peer to peer switch based LAN.
We can both a newly created LAN game and can "chat" to each other. We can also join a game so both players have a tick icon as ready.
However when the start game button is clicked we get the message "not all players are ready"
Even though its internal Ive turned off all XP/SAV Firewalls.
Ive attached the warnings log - not that I can make much sense of it.
Not sure of next move :-(

If you just want to play a game against the AI with a friend, you could get on Relic Online to try it to see if it works.
Because you're behind the same router, you would likely have issues if other people joined the game, but both of you should be able to play in the same game.
Thanks. I'll try but I understand DOW does not support 2 players behind a shared internet connection? I'm intrigued why a simple LAN connection "kinda" works. I'm very keen to prove who's boss to my son head to head ....

It doesn't normally support two players behind a shared connection IF those players try to connect to other players from behind the same connection. But because you're both behind the same NAT, it should work.
The LAN should work as well, the only thing I can think is that you're using the same Key and it's checking for that.
And yet I've checked the reg to confirm I didn't stuff the installs up. Thanks for the thoughts - I guess I'll try a reinstall and see if chaos theory was at work.

Sigh, Ive reinstalled Son's game, correct code. No joy - "Players not ready"
I've turned off all firewalls and tried the online games - "host not found".
Does anybody know on the LAN connect what process takes place to initiate start of game - the fact we can message, join games means there is some level of connectivity....
Thanks

I'm an idiot. I've only just realised there is a toggle on the player ready tick box and a green box with white tick "isn't it" ...........

I was going to suggest that, but it seemed like you'd already realized that you needed to ready up :-( I guess you were just checking the wrong box.
Let us know who wins the match.

Hmm we played 2 x Dead Mans Crossing SM (me) vs Tau.
Ist game I tried something a bit too complicated involving co-ordinated Orbital Strike / Drop Pods / General Advance.
It kind of fell apart .....
Second game I adopted a more conservative armour based approach, just tipped the major confrontation in my favour and rolled on before he could recover. Much better.
Thanks for your interest!

It doesn't "normaly". Does that mean that there IS a way to have 2 players behind the same router to join an online game with other players on the internet?
I've tried desperatly but to no avail. Routers, at least mine, only allow DMZ or port forwarding to a single Ip address per port at a time.
