Hi All,

I used to get this problem intermittantly pre 1.2 in online MP games, but i put it down to using bitdefender - as i am aware there are some compatibility issues (wish i'd known that before i bought bitdefender).

However, it wasn't a problem, probably crash only once and then be fine for days. I pretty much only play DC online.

Since patch 1.2 every online game i try to play crashes my machine, a full reboot of windows. A match gets about ten seconds in, game locks, music continues to play and i can still move my mouse cursor, this lasts approx 10 seconds then big nasty sound bug and reboot.

Very frustrating. The game plays fine offline since 1.2 and i have not changed any settings on my PC at all. I've messed with graphics settings to see if i have grpahics res too high, but no change, i have also re-run the dow gfx utility.

Any suggestions, not only do i reallyy enjoy DoW, but its my only game ...

warnings log and dxdiag uploaded.

Cheers
Shok

Have you tried shutting down bitdefender to confirm that it is the culprit?

yes - i never run it with it on - i even ctrl-alt-del and close bdss.exe and bdagent.exe which it runs in the background to make sure.

Update though i got a game running in 1024x768.

I need to ramp up the gfx slowly and try games out, perhaps my gfx card is the culprit.

Is there any gfx updates in 1.2?

There were some graphical effects added with the patch, but nothing your card shouldn't be able to handle. If your PC has been rebooting, then that is indicative of a possible hardware problem. This could be overheating (graphics and/or CPU) or even faulty memory - to test your RAM, Google for MemTest86. Your device drivers appear to be ok, but you could check to see if there are more recent nForce and AMD 64 drivers available.

The PC rebooting & the game running only at lower resolutions does point a bony finger in the direction of your video card. Your card should not have any issues running this game if it's operating normally.

I'd be checking to see that the fan hasn't died on the card & that it isn't choked with fluff & dust (especially if your PC sits on the floor &/or you are a smoker) or if it's passively cooled, increasing the cards airflow by making sure you are getting a decent amount of air in & out of your case.

Same goes for the CPU heat sink, check it's not wrapped in fluff & dust & that the fan is still working. Your CPU should run pretty cool most of the time, if you have any Motherboard monitoring software, take a look at what kind of temps you are getting during a game.
