I cannot connect to other games in the game room, i get the message. Please Wait... Connecting

Then after about a minute it sayd host cannot be found of has quit then some stuff about firewall and router.

My firewall is disabled and it still wont connect.

I am running a Windows XP Pro SP2, Pentium 4 3.2Ghz, 1GB DDR Ram, 256mb Ati Radeon 9600 Pro x8 AGP, and use 8Mb BT Broadband through BT's HomeHub.

No other firewall installed apart rom windows firewall (disabled) and use AVG Anti-virus.

I have DOW, DOW WA, DOW DC and they are all installed and updated via online play.

Please help me connect to a game.

Thanks
Toneh.

Hi there,

Firstly can you run the DoW Network tester (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=63593) then copy and paste (control + c, control + v) the results to your next post so we can see whats going on with your Ports?

moving to tech assistance.

Try the net test again in a few hours, the server seems to be having problems atm.

It's something wrong with gamespy or dc's netcode. I have issues with my linksys wrt54g - sometimes i don't see anyone on the channnel, or i can't connect to a game, or i'm kicked to main menu. I have all needed ports open (forwarded), shut i down my sygate personal firewall and even use DMZ and still no luck.

I know i'm not the only one with this http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=141616&page=1&pp=15

I'm having the same problem, sorta, but only if I want to connect to one certain friend.

I can connect to other people fine, but his ping is shown as "???" and we can't connect to eachother. It's the exact same on his end; he can connect to others fine, but my ping is shown as "???".

I've tried dmz'ing my router, have no software firewalls, and disabled my antivirus stuff, to no effect.

At least you can connect to some players. i cant connect to any game !!!

The whole thing is a waste of time, I play online games everyday, Fifa07, TigerWoods07, Counter-Strike Etc and all are fine.

This game DOW DC just wont work online for me.
I used to play the standard DOW online and it all worked fine, great ping, great connection. but this is just crap tbh.

this network tester thing dont work either ... whatever next.
pay for a game and you cant play it to its fullest... surely on install these things should be changed? port forwarding etc... shouldn't have to mess about with stuff like this to just play a game online.
THQ need to get things sorted..... amateurs !!

Upon closer inspection, it seems that I can ping to a handful of game rooms, while I get "???" to all individual players.

First the good news: You can connect to about 1/10 games! Just keep trying... You may have more luck joining games where there are only 2-3 other players already. You will just have to wait until the rest of the game is full.

The bad news are that you have the same problem that hundreds of other players have. There is a sticky at the top of the forum that has some help. You will need to configure your router (though you say it is a hub it might have a firewall built-in) and open some ports.

You might also learn something from this (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=129502) thread where I finally managed to get it to work (mostly).

Good luck. I hope you hang on and get your problems solved!

I don't see what more there is to do than DMZ (which opens all ports) my router, tho. I don't have NAT or software firewalls, and can disable my antivirus.

I'm waiting for that nettest site to come back up so I can troubleshoot some more. It's a bit frustrating when everyone tells you to go to it and it's been down for 2 days.

I tried putting my comp in the DMZ and opened all ports as well to no avail. My solution was a new firmware update from Linksys.

Can you join any games at all? My experience was that I just had to keep on trying different games. What about creating a game? Does anybody join your game?

I'm using the latest firmware on my router as well.

And yeah, I can join some games, I just can't connect to my friend who I usually play with.
