View Full Version : Can't Start Multiplayer Games
When I try to start a multiplayer game with a certain player, the game counts down then freezes when transferring badges. I can join the game when he is hosting or I am hosting but after we start, the game will freeze at that part before the load screen. If either he or I leave during the start, alt tabbing and closing DoW, the game will immediately go to the load screen and the game will begin. What could possibly be the problem?

Something is causing the system to hang with transferring badges?
Do both of your games work with other people independently?
If not, then the one at fault must reinstall fully and not install any mod files or additional files to the game folder.
Also both run the Network Tester please, to rule out any perculiar issues there.

That is the network test for me. I do not have a router.

This is his network test. I don't have a NAT firewall so I dont think that is what would cause the problem.
When we start the game.. it never goes past transferring badges into the load screen. We can both play with other people. We tested it to make sure it was one of us by playing with a third person that each of us have played with. When the transferring badges screen came up and wouldnt load.. either he or I left and the game would immediately start. The hosting doesnt matter. He can join my games and I can join his. It just gets stuck on transferring badges. Neither of us have made custom badges for our races or have programs to do so.
Do you think that both of us reinstalling might solve the problem? Neither of us have installed additional game files to the folder.

It transfers more than just badges; it transfer their custom paint schemes, both the actual names of it and the colour selections. It could be one of two things :
1. He has a unique ASCII character in his army name that is causing this
2. His firewall/router is blocking the upload port, so effectively stopping the communication of badges, thus hanging indefinitely as there is no timeout specified.
