that was the first thing i tried too... :( it crashed my comp when i tried to read the file a second time...

Thats becuase it's not like a BIG but more like an SGA....

And the sga tool you've made reads the entries apparently, but there are subtle offset changes so it wont extract anything. God, if it's only a few lines of code we could have an extracted big in a day or so!!!!!

You frighten me with your abilities, especially since I don't quite understand how you figured out the SGA format in the first place. Thanks for making it possible for all of us to go and mod the games to bits.

I think .sga was the archive format that Impossible Creatures used...

It was, and it took me 2 weeks to crack it, although only about 2 days where actual programming time.

Problem is I dont have the demo and wont have it becuase I have no way of downloading it....

I guess I'm probably the only one who understands my SGA code properly.... so it's up to me to get it working, but I can't without the demo.

*cries like a baby*

Do you realy need the complet Demo or just some files like the exe. And why you cant downlaod the Demo ?

It's okay I have it sorted.... Dawn is sending me the demo on CD and I am getting one of the .big files now :)

I should perhaps point out that the english.big is the only one of the big files that the SGAViewer cannot open! doh....so you may well want to wait for the demo. :)

Okay well the HW2 extractor I just did reads english.big

But from what you guys have said it *wont* read the normal .big files....

I dont have the larger files, so I couldn't test it.
