View Full Version : Editing the ship's
Okay, I'm just posting in this forum for the first time, I follow the other threads instructions about extracting the files etc, but (as you all prolly know) when I go to read a .shp file with Notepad, it doesn't seem to have the info that the HW1 and Cata .shp files had.
Is it possible to edit the ships to have other ships fire other weapons? Or is that ability going to be released after the full game?

The ship files are compiled, so until we either get a de/recompiler for them, there isn't much you can do.
Gotcha. Just thought I'd ask in case I misread something.

You cannot edit the .ship files - they are compiled. When the RDN tools are released there will be the ability to edit the uncompiled versions...

I spent a long night examining the .ship files with a hex editor, but I can't find any straightforward way to match the binary data with the ascii field names. I guess they're compiled with the same tool as the LUA files. So, as they're saying, we're kind of stuck until Relic releases some tools (or some specs).
