View Full Version : Install Issues, Registry Entries?

I uninstalled Dawn of War a while ago, and I'm trying to reinstall it, but my computer tells me that it's already installed, and I can't install it until I uninstall it.
I'm thinking there might still be some registry entries that weren't taken care of by the uninstall. I think I've found the registry entries, although, I'm not sure if they're the ones I need to get rid of. Could somebody tell me which ones I should delete?

Whatever is in HKLM/Software/THQ is what you're looking for.

Just delete the folder under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/THQ/ called Dawn of War (or Dawn of War - Dark Crusade). Making sure you have your CDKeys stored if you have mislaid your manual.

I have the same problem, I tried to re-install it after it had been uninstalled.
It comes up saying 'play game' I clicked it but nothing happened, I browsed the disc and double clicked the install icon but it said it was already installed!
I'm confused with your answers...whats folders am I supposed to be looking in?

Well I've downloaded TuneUp...Ran about every single cleaup program and optimization thing it had...but I still can't play because it still thinks it's installed!!!
Lonneybat: Kapyrna and Groundzero have both posted where in the registry you need to go to find the DoW keys to delete - go delete them and you will be able to install fine.

Um...I have no idea what a registry is so...
Um...I have no idea what a registry is so...
Click start>run and type in "regedit" then hit enter.
Only delete the folders related to the game, the registry is system critical.

@ Bryn:
No other solution than re-install the game. Adding a reg-entity is more hassle than it's worth, just go through the install process again as it will be much simpler.
