Cd key/registry problems

Hi, I recently re-installed Windows and all my DoW registry entries vanished. After some searching I found the threads about re-entering your CD-Keys etc. However, I couldn't find my DoW vanilla disk, cd case or manual (I bought it years ago now)..

Anyway, my question is this: I still have my old DoW install folders from before the re-install of Windows - is the CD hidden in these folders somewhere - either as part of an archived file or as a text entry somewhere else? My guess is that it isn't and I'm out of luck.

If this is case, I have another question - can I enter my Winter Assault CD key in the registry without also having a DOW key in the registry? I've tried entering it as outlined in the help thread but it won't let me use IG online! I'll probably have to just buy vanilla again and get a new CD-Key but it would be good to be able to use IG until then.

1st question: no, when you install the game the CD key is written to the registry only - not to any file in the install directory.

2nd question: I dont know but I would assume not - the original intention was that to play the old races you needed to have the old games installed, as you cannot have WA installed without DoW theres no reason for them to have coded for that possibility. The game probably checks to see if the DoW key is there and will only go on to check for the WA key if it found the DoW key.
