how to connect in observer mode?

how can i connect to a host in another ip range in a observer-mode using, for example, console?

The way I know how to join a game as an observer is to click on the yellow eye.

Yes but the game must have an obsever place avaliable, you cant just connect to any game as observer. Normally people add '+2' or something to indicate that there are 2 spots for observors.

but what if i can not see hosted game in a lobby? (another sub-lan) but i have it's ip adress. How to connect as observer?....
p.s. i'm talking about LAN game or direct ip connection, not about gamespy)

Then just select Direct Join from the multiplayer menu and enter the IP address.

but there is no observer mode!

As ImperialWarrior said, the game needs to be set up with an observer slot in the first place. That's the only way it'll work.

1. LAN game HAS an observer slot
2. i can not see it in a lobby
3. direct join hasn't option 'connect as observer'
4. i can not find the way to create game with an observer slot in the first place, first place is allways busy by yourself!

When setting uo a game, lan and online, the host has to open one slot for observor. this observor slot doesnt have to be in the players slot like in this image. All you have to do is cick on 'closed' and select open for observor.
if the host has not opened a slot for observor there is no way to join in observer mode.

i know how to do it! you didn't understand me.
I can not connect to this game through the lan lobby. So I use DIRECT JOIN. BUT there is no OBSERVER MODE in direct join. i can connect only like а player! I need to connect like observer trough DIRECT JOIN.
