Looking good. The HW1 FS mod was kind of a disappointment. You mention 30 ships per side, with some new. I think you should include some FS1 ships instead, but that's just my opinion. I'm actaully very excited about this.

Freespace 1 and 2 inculuded, fs 1 ships are pretty low polygon so i'll probaly have to remake them, n re-texture but i'll try to get em in there. I said about 30 ships but i dont know yet, after all the fs2 n fs1 ships are added and my ones, there'll probaly be more.

btw if anyone wants to help out they can, otherwise it'l be just lil ol me.

I'd love to help you, but I've got a couple other projects starting at the moment. I can see how busy I am and maybe I could help you out in a few days. BTW are you exporting the models from FS or doing them yourself?

eh shit

It weird seeing people using your old idea... and who is this saying the FS mod for HW was a disappointment... It was the 4th ranked mod! I think I would know... And damn man I bet this boys just gunna use pof2cob(converts freespace to HW) so their models won't even be legit.

errrrr, your old idea?, lots of people have wanted to see freespace as a strategy game. As for the homeworld 1 mod, they used pof2cob models and they looked allright.

I just want to make a mod that i can use personaly, and mabye other people might want it so thats why im gonna release it.

Models being legit?, it doesnt matter, as long as i get a shivan juggernaught fireing beam cannons into the colossus i dont mind.
Its not that i dont have modeling experiance, its coz i dont really want to remake a whole heap of models.

Man I am SVG, the creator of the mod! Its just weird though. I hear that my mod was a disappointment(probably from sumone that played the non release (unbalanced])product). U know what i'm saying? I'm gonna be creating a new mod, but if y'all want my old ships (all 100 of them, every HW position filled).

I gave the people what they wanted thats all. I have that entire mod done wit LODs so if u want it i'll be willing to help you out, to be a "Design Consultant." We'll get it done quick and then we can start on a brand new mod, that sounds good?

I'ld rather convert n re-texture all the models myself, im pretty used to doing a lot of things at once for a mod, graphics, coding, modeling ect. I may need help with the converting the models to hw2 format.

this mod is my personal view of what i want, : freespace universe + homeworld engine.

Ya, I said it was a BIT of a disappointment basically because of the balancing. That was mostly my own expectations though. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. The mod itself was fantastic, kudos to the creator. I wasn't bashing it, I was just saying that i'm excited about basically the same thing with a new engine that can really do the game justice.

I loved the old mod I want to see a new one. The only reason I really want a new one is so that you could put in subsystems. Disabling them was soo important in fs2 that it's kind of odd to think about a mod without them.

Hate to rain on your parade but you might want to worry about canon ships(I.E. the Orion or the Herc 2) before you go the time and trouble to make your own.

What about the Colossus and Sathanas? :D And how many polys will those two behemoths be?

Also, what ships have you chosen for mothership class? Will it be like the HW1 mod where the Gate was the Shivan MS and the Arcadia platform was the Terran MS?

Sathanus is about 1200 polys n thats allmost done, dunno about the Colossus, im kinda going for a different timeline, say about 100 years after freespace 2. So the colossus will be long gone, but i will make a new one :3dcool:

Hmmmm, i'll make a new mothership for the terrans and i might use the jumpgate for the shivans, or something different.

I still working out the story, if i can make missions i might make a small campaign aswel.

Imho, the Arcadia didn't really fit into that role, but was probably the only canon terran base-like thing which fit into poly-limit. Some kind of space dock for super-caps (think of Tanis) would be cool.

Yeah, it was kinda weird to see the Colossus, which was almost half the size of Arcadia, sorta melt its way out of the tiny hole it starts in after being built ;)

Ah!! Popup attacks on the website :-P. Hopefully scaling and balancing will be better than the HW1 mod.

It will be as close to freespace gameplay as possible. If i can fit 60 turrets on the hecate destroyer, i will :nod: lol

Devils_Hitman, are you familiar with HLP? You should go hang out there... that Shivan corvette of yours is simply drool material. (Yes, believe it or not FS2 is alive and kicking, you should take a look at http://www.3dap.com/hlp/) You might pick up some interest/help there as well. Also, if you're setting it in the future of the FS universe, you might find these interesting:

Out of curiousity, what exactly is HW2's poly limit?

Also, you shouldn't have to be re-doing all of those models... you're almost always going to come up with something higher-poly than canon ships. Surely you can find some kind of converter.

Motherships in HW2 have in excess of 8000 polies. The Ion Frigate has about 1600 in LOD1....

Its low poly but dosnt look like it. im wondering if its worth it to use meshsmooth to bump it up to 2000 polys. But i dont think i will because it would lose its "sharp/rugged" shivan style.

Overall polylimit with turrets n lil goblin details, ect would probaly be 600.....still not much tho.

Extremely impressive. My only very small criticism is that it looks slightly off balance. The mass of all the original shivan ships looked more evenly distributed. I just get the feeling that it looks like it's about to fall over. I'd just decrease the size of the spine up front to about 75%. But it looks fantastic no matter.
