So I bought the Platinum Edition of Dawn of War. When it comes time to install DoW and Winter Assault it asks for a CD for both. Well the CD provided for Winter Assault is only four sets of four characters. ex. ****-****-****-****
The installer wants five sets of four characters each. ex ****-****-****-****-****
As is I can not install. What do I do?

I purchased mine today at Best Buy and I have the same issue. Who do I contact so I can get this installed? :lurk:

I'm afraid there's not much we can do here. You'll both have to contact the publisher THQ on the matter. Contact details will vary depending on where you're located, but are listed in the manual at the back.

Yeah, I figured as much once I really started to think about it. I was just very pissed when I posted and still am. I found the number for tech support.

Any update, Gandaug? I just bought the game yesterday and have the same problem. Called Tech Support, and haven't heard back.

well i got the same problem, so i called up the help number. they told me that the only way to fix the problem was to return it, so i tried. too bad gamestop refuses to exchange the game for me, even though i bought the game just yesterday and even had the receipt. well i called the help line again, and they said my only remaining choice was to send them my game, and they'd send me a new one. guess what? i have to pay for the shipping of both packages myself and it'll take several days. so all in all gamestop and THQ came together to screw me in a way i probably should have seen coming... :banghead:

I got my DoW Platinum Edition and I got hosed just like the OP. The Winter Assault CDKey is 4 characters short of the required 20 in the entry window.

We can assure you that Buggo is employed by Relic Entertainment and her intentions are far from nefarious. :)

Thanks everyone, I've received enough CD keys and we are investigating this with Gamespy at the moment :)

I also have the same problem, purchased mine online through amazon. Dawn of War Platinum edition

Same. Bought a copy of the the Platinum Edition today and the Winter Assault code is missing four digits. The place I bought it is about an hour away, so unless there is no other choice, I'd rather not have to just return it. Especially with the chance that if I do, the copy I get in exchange may have the same problem.

Still investigating. Thanks for your patience!
For the record, I took my copy back to GameStop today and explained the situation to one of the managers. They called another local store to see if they had a copy, then let me go over and trade just my manual for the one they already had gutted. The new one had the full 20 digit code, so all's well on my end now.

Just adding my names to the list of people suffering from this. Bought a copy of DoW Platinum from EB Games yesterday and also have an incomplete CD-Key for the Winter Assault expansion. Going back today to attempt to exchange for a working one, hopefully they'll have one in stock.
Getting a feeling there are a lot of bad copies on the shelves, from my experience in tech support forums, only a small percentage post their problems on forums, so if we already have this many names with this problem in one week it might be that this is a very common issue.

Uhm just found out by looking at threads in the troubleshooting list that the same thing happened for the Gold release and that THQ had a mailing address to send our misprinted manual with the CD-keys to in order to get a new one (instead of having to mail a full box). Maybe they'll do this this time too?

Just bought mine tonight at a local Gamestop... only 16 digits for Winter Assault.
Going to try and take it back to that Gamestop tomorrow and see what I can do.

Looks like I am another victim, I too bought the Platinum Edition from Gamestop and found that I had 16 characters for my cd key and not the 20 required for Winter Assault. I am more than annoyed, especially since I have to wait until monday to talk to live tech support if I want to do anything. Though apparently my best bet is to return to Gamestop and ask for a cd key I guess *sigh*.
I hope you can resolve this issue soon!

Well it's a bust for me. All copies they had at EB Games only had 16 digits for the CD key. Hopefully THQ will come up with a means for us to get valid CD keys.
Meanwhile I used a friend's Winter Assault CD key to get passed the installation screen (it won't let you even install basic Dawn of War without both Dawn of War and Winter Assault CD keys), so at least I get to play a bit until we get this fixed and I get the CD key I payed for.
Same goes for me, they only had 16 digit cd keys.
I emailed THQ tech support on Saturday and they have not replied to me either yet. I forgot to call them today though, so that was my fault. Still waiting for an email or a reply to this thread though!

yea i bought mine at a best buy today. winter assault cd key was missing last 4 digits. Returned it the best buy and just opened up another box. This one's cd key was valid so all good to go.
Looks like it was just a bad batch. We're still looking into this though with Gamespy. Sorry for the wait.
A THQ tech guy emailed me last night (odd that I didn't notice it until this afternoon), asked for my information, the cd key (no harm in that, it doesn't work lol), and where I bought it from. Now I wait and see who resolves my problem first :p

Lucky you, I still haven't heard anything from THQ. And the EB Games store will not give me my money back so that I can buy it elsewhere without "proof" that I have tried to settle this with THQ first (which is kinda hard considering they don't answer).
They took a good 5 days to get back to me Pope :disgust:

I just bought the game from Amazon last week, just received it on Tuesday. I too have this issue for Winter Assault. THQ is telling me to send in my copy and get a replacement, but is there another solution? I really don't want to deal with that hassle.

I just purchased my copy today from Fry's Electronics and have the exact same issue. Will call customer service tomorrow and fill everybody in on how that goes.

Called customer service at THQ and they recommended going back to point of sale (Fry's). A few quick moments with the 'returns' desk, and we were good to go. They even allowed me to inspect the new one right there in the store and ensure it had a valid activation code.

Since I could not trade for a new copy from the stores (They only had faulty copies), I have been at the mercy of THQ's online support. And two days ago I received an email containing my new cd key. Praise to the people at customer support! I am glad I didn't have to ship anything to England. So, as I type this, I am installing DoW and Winter Assault, I am sure I shall enjoy these games :)

I still haven't heard anything from them... from where did you contact them? Maybe I used the wrong online support form.

Addin' my name to the list, unfortunately.
Just picked up the platinum edition tonight at Gamestop and the Winter Assault CD key is one substring too short.
I've sent in a customer service e-mail, but it's after their business hours, so odds are I won't know if there's anything they'll do about it until tomorrow.
This was the only copy gamestop had, and I'm not real confident they'll let me do a return on it, and of course I drove all over town (literally) looking for this, so it doesn't seem like anyone else has it.

You should get an email from support@thq.com, which will essentially ask for the same information the form asked for, but a little more. Then after a week, they might give you a new cd key :p

yippee.
Fortunately, I've played the single player campaigns for the first two games and I can play the dark crusade single player campaign regardless of the other two games. So I've got something to keep me busy there.

Adding my name. I literally just got home to install this, and it's a no go. Guess I'll send tech support an email and hope for the best.
Oh, I bought mine at a Best Buy. I have all the packing material, so maybe I can provide a lot number or something. Just tell me what you need and where it is located, and I'll try to help out in tracking down the problem.
Edit: the THQ support page seems to be down. Is there someone else I can contact who can help get this sorted out?

I managed to call the 818-880-0456 customer support number and described the problem. The person on the line said it was a known issue and just asked for my e-mail address to which he will send an e-mail asking for a scan of the back page of my manual which I will do tomorrow at work. He said with that they should be able to give me a replacement key through e-mail.
I'll keep you guys posted, but things are looking up. I'd also like to point out that the person on the phone was very nice so thumbs up to THQ on that, it's not easy doing customer support for an issue like this.

I got an e-mail a couple days after I sent mine off, sent them a picture of the back of the manual and the CD and within a couple hours I got my new CD key. THQ customer support rocks.

Just went to gamestop today, all their copies have incomplete CD keys, but there were only 3 copies... im going to Sams Club tomorrow because I saw around 4 copies there, im going to try and explain the problem to customer service and maybe they'll allow me to open up the copies there, surely they'll allow me when I tell them how they're selling faulty copies if the copy's CD keys are incomplete...
Wish me luck! I really want to play Dawn of War :(

I guess I am the latest victim of this situation. I bought my copy at a Best Buy at Maryland yesterday, while I was visiting relatives. Now I am back in NYC and eager to play DoW, but I can't because of the incomplete key. I have emailed THQ this morning and I haven't had a reply up to now, not even an acknowledgement that they received my email. I would call but my home phone does not permit long distance calls, and THQ does not have a toll-free number. This is so frustrating.
