I have installed patch 1.41 and the game boots up fine, btw is there anyway of turning the intro movie off? And then i can do whatever i want until i try to 'play' a skirmish or a campaign game. As soon as the the illustration appears and the loading bar comes up, instantly 1/3 full, it crashes to desktop.

First thing you should do is install the latest patches(v1.5 followed by v1.51). Either go online and log on to Gamespy, or download them manually from here (http://88.198.39.149/~dowpatch/).

If you still want to disable the barrage of opening logos when the game first fires up?
You should use the -nomovies edit.

Like other Relic games, you can disable the barrage of opening logos when the game first fires up by including this option in the Target: field. It'll jump straight into the main loading screen instead. However, this feature will also disable that amazing opening animation by Blur Studios, seen in the first two games.

(You have to put this in the Target feild on the shortcut that is on your Desktop)

P.S. I know this will not help your main problem, but it will skip the intro that you mentioned in your first post.

I have list of questions that I would like you to answer.

1) Did the game start crashing before or after you patch it to 1.41?

2) Have you installed any mods to the game?

3) Are you runing any programs in the back ground that could be conflicting with the game (namely, BitDefender, Windows Defender, Anti-Virus Utilities, Peer To Peer Transfer Programs etc)?

4) Are you playing the game at full specs by an chance?

1. no, it crashed after standard install. Hence why i looked for patches.

2. no.

3. Norton Antivirus and, I guess, Windows defender is running too. I havent turned it off anyway.

4. I could run it on full specs, according to the analysis when installing, but i run it on lowest detail and it still crashes.

I have never played the actual game - it crashes when loading this. The menu looks great and my paint job loooks great, my profile is ok, the intro movie was cool, if a lil jumpy but i just cant play the game. =(
