Hi People
I worked sum time on a CameraZoomMod based on the known CameraZoomMod 1.2 and the LOTW (light of the Warp) mod.
It is a mod which allows you to zoom out more in Multiplayer games and Automatch. You dont have to activate it in the game manager and it doesnt give you sync errors in multiplayer battles.
The mod gives you an advantage cause you will just see more without scrolling around like a fool. You also got instructions in the readme so you can easily change the mod to your flavour (it is really easy).
If you dont know the former mods 1.1 and 1.2 give this one a chance (you will like it).
If you use allready the former mod u only got to win as well because i made fixes on the angle and the fog problem.
For critique/advice post here or give me a email (asthrion@bluewin.ch) or just contact me ingame (my most used names are NarfOlogy, Narf[]logy and NarfOlOtrain)
Have fun and i hope the mod is a great help for you out there.

Cool idea.
Do you mind if I redistribute it with the Combiner mod, or would you prefer that I'd ask people to download it separately ?
Err... you should rewrite your link : it doesn't work as is.

No problem. Be aware that this CameraZoomMod is allready a modified Combination of 2 Camera zoom mods (not made by me).
I improved and changed em for the love to the game. I hope nobody hates me for that. So go on and include it for the love to the game as I did.
I will contact you when 1.2 is out. I am still working on something nice for it ;)
One other thing: I think your combiner Mod has to be turn on and off if you want to play the normal multiplayer game. My mod works allways without making sync if your enemy doesnt have it (Even in Automatchs you can use it)

Err wait a sec.. I have modded all my games for years with custom zoom options (massive zoom in down to pixels all the way out to the stratosphere) but the key problem is: only non-custom maps have their Shroud disabled so try and zoom out on official maps like 2p_FallenCity and <Whammo!> massive short-distance viewing. Its horrible and hardcoded into the map (unless you edit it out). Wish there was a hack so you could view the entire map completely WITHOUT having to edit the bloody thang.

Yep I think your are talking about the fog problem. It still is a problem but i tried to avoid it by limiting the zoom grade and increasing the angle to the ground. So you have a better zoomout and allmost no fog.
Btw Thudmeizer I think you could help me a bit as u are familiar with the Camera settings. Please contact me as well on icq or xfire.

or MSN :p And I don't profess to be 100% with Camera settings but I use my own custom ones given to me by Shin. :D

I use my own camera zoom mod as well, you need to set it up yourself because everyone has a different taste... I personally have it set up so that it defaults at just in the fog, and at a high declination (60) because widescreen 45 degrees sucks majorly. This is set up for 1200*800 resolution. Download (http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/5/12/1071410/Dawn%20Of%20War/Other/incys%20camera%20files.zip)
Note that if you play a camera zoom mod, you may as well put all your settings on low because when you are zoomed out you cant see the detail anyway!
Ps, checked out your files to compare, we have similar values (within 3 degrees), but you have to clean the file out. You have all the values repeated!

Jep true i have to clean up the file a bit (nightwork = hard work ;) )
But i think its rdy to customize for people who are not that familiar with camera settings.
Besides in my mod you cant zoom out to the stratosphere. It just doesnt make sence if you cant distinguish between reapers and Guardsmen anymore ;)

A camera mod is welcome :). Thank you Asthrion. I´m using the camera-setting file which is included within the skirmish AI mod and I´m happy with it, anyway I´ll try your settings later too.

I copied the camera files from dowxp into the dc data folder and that was that.

no offense but pics/details please? i've been quite satisfied using camerazoommod1.3 for a while now and would like to know the specific differences between this mod and the others. i sincerely hope that zooming is more precise -that is, that the camera moves up and down by a smaller amount with each click than in camerazoommod1.3.

No offense...1.1.1 is just a warmup for me. I am working on several features to include.
1.1.1. is just to get known what people want. I think I was right assuming that i cant make a mod everyone likes -> so i will offer everyone the possibility to make theyr custom settings.
I really wanted to go public with 1.2 but as i have seen in 1.1 that testers have different tastes.
So check out and tell me what you like in this forum. 1.1.1. isnt flawless i know (but arrogant as i am i still think its the best mod so far...but thats my taste).
Edit: I can give you pictures but its best u make the pictures on your own ;)

I love the angle you have the camera set to Asthrion. It makes the game feel different somehow, and in a good way. It's more epic or something.
The height is nice too: just under the fog, where it's best.
Sorry to who made my first camera mod, but I'm going with yours. Thanks and great job! :salute: :salute: :salute:

Thanks for the positive feedback. The ones who "discovered" the camera settings are really the ones to be honored.
I just reconifigurated the settings to (imho) the optimal state. Its easy to change the mod to ur flavor. Just read the readme.
Btw its funny how a lot of people react when I give them the advice to use the mod. I hear so often "I am not so much into mods" or " I dont need it" etc. But after I forced them to just test it nobody wants to play without it anymore ;) (exept the ones with a real weak pc).

I know it's a day old but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, someone please make a camera mod for SS! You will have my eternal gratitude!

Just copy the files into the Engine -> Data, just like before. It works.

This mod works for soul storm too. Its much better now because I can see more of the map. Only problem is the fog when I zoom out too far.

Im sure the fog can be reduced :P
Nice that this works for SS. Always thought that the camera zoom wasnt high enough :)

Working on Narf zoom mod 1.2 when i got time. Soulstorm got some nice changes in the engine. And yeh the mod works for ss as well.
Write me a message here or ingame (HoV|NarfOlogy , Narf_Gnarf, NarfOlogy) if you want some things to be changed for 1.2.
I will be working on some fog-issues and i will make the mod even more easy to customize yourself.
Btw I also need negative feedback or I got nothing to tweak which maks me very very sad  .

Okay, tried this since Widescreen *really* zooms you in. Should have before, works really well.
Firstly; one of your files is misnamed. It should be "camera_me.lua" not "camera_ed.lua", according to the existing files. I am not too sure what the 3 files are for - since there is only a single on/off for "Better camera" in the game options - I suspect the "me(dium)" file is ignored, and the low and high the only ones used. If you test it, you might be able to remove "me(dium)"
If you add some kind of GUI program or help file so people can edit it, that'd be good. The problem I find is it is too "top down" - the angle isn't quite how I like it, I prefer to see what's coming at me, although how zoomed out it is it hasn't made me go changing it myself. The main things you'd want to point out is how to change the default settings (angle, distance) and the maximum and minimum distances.
The default zoom level is good for seeing action and not too far out to make it hard to select things most of the time, and it seems to work perfectly in all SS campaign missions, since most have far FOW views.
Good job dude :)

Hey guys, am I right in my understanding that I can use this mod and still play on-line with peeps who are not using this mod, just the stock, but updated DowSS?
