Hey all,
With the release of SoulStorm, the Technical Assistance forum has suddenly had a field day so i hope i can get some help. :help:
Anyway on to my problem. When i start SS the usual dc key pop up appears which allows you to play as all races in multiplayer. I entered the DC key and unlocked those races. however whenever i enter the code for the original DoW, it says the DoW does not seem to be installed properly. I cannot find a solution to this. i have tried reinstallling the game and had no luck. Ive also checked my regedit files and the cd key is correct. I had no problem getting DC to recognise DoW.
DoW is installed in the same location as DC, SS and WA so that cant be the problem either.
Any help would be gratefully apreciated. Cheers ;)

Is Dawn of War\Winter Assault patched to 1.51? If not, that may cause problems.

Hi, I have a similar problem, and instead of start another thread I thought I might acquire help here. My problem involves my DC CD key. I can get Space Marines and all the races from WA and the original DoW but when I enter my DC key it tells me that my key is invalid. It's a valid key, I put it in 6 or so times straight from the back of my instruction manual. What gives?

Right, check that your cd key is correct in the first place by going to run, and type 'regedit' in. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>THQ>DAWNOFWAR and a file called cd-key should be present. Check that it is corrrect.
Thanks for the help Talonfire. No DoW/WA are not patched up so i will try that.

Update: Patching did not seem to work. Its strange how DC recognises the other games but SS doesnt.
Any help would be apreciated again.

I just spoke to a nice chap at the UK tech support and he told me that I *MUST* have all 4 games fully installed on the comp before it will unlock the teams.....
I must say that I find that more than a little annoying as I simply don't have the space to install them all
Anyone got any suggestions?

Might want to consider purchasing an external hard drive, Trikky. If you don't have any space on your internal HDs then that's likely your best bet.
Anyway, ImperialWarrior did you reinstall Soulstorm after patching DoW\WA? I have no idea how the game detection works, it might only search on the initial launch.

Ok.....No.....Wait....I managed to fix mine....
What I did was go look at the registry for my DOW serials.
What I had done was to make a typo on THAT one. But strangly I must have hit on a legit combination....But when I typed it in THIS time it checked it against what I typed in last time...Saw a discrepancy and then threw it back as a bad code (which it wasn't)
All I had to do was to put my registry to what it SHOULD be (Both DC and original) and then when I fired it up again it accepted it first time.
So much for technical support saying I MUST have it installed :screwy:
Maybe this will help others
NOTE!!!!
IMPORTANT!!!
If you do decide to attempt to play around in the registry PLEASE back it up before hand....
if you make a mistake it may well screw up your comp.....
Please be careful!

Yes. I uninstalled all the games, installed them in the correct order (DoW-WA-DC-SS) and patched them all to the latest. I still get the 'Dawn of war does not seem to be installled correctly' message
Again, thankyou for the help anyways.

I just had DC (1.2) Then installed SS as it wanted to.
BUT....I used the race unlocker for DC (Sorry...Don't have the link to hand anywhere) and put my serials in there.
Just had a thought......Daft question...But are all the games the same region? Would that make a difference?
Us / EU / Aus...That kind of thing???

Yes all the games are the same region. I tried the race unlocker too.
When i try to reinstall all the games, the autorun says 'play the game' instead of 'install the game'. Is there a way to fix this as i think this may be the problem.

Run the regular uninstaller, delete the Dawn of War directories manually, and finally ensure that the registry entries are gone. After that reboot your computer, and see if Autorun now says "Install" instead of "Play". If so, install, patch, and see if you have better luck.

can you uninstall the games after you install SS or do they have to remain?

That solved the problem with the autoplay thinking DoW was installed, but i still get that 'does not appear to be installed correctly' message. Im really stumped!

I can uninstall the games after i installed SS, yes. but i have uninstalled all DoW games and installed them in the correct order just incase SS does not recognise the newly installed DoW.

dcunlock link here...

I just tried it after already having SS installed, I reinstalled DC followed by the unlocker. I was then able to successfully unlock all races with my keys in SS. I am sure someone will come up with a ssunlock, but until then this will be a 50% solution for saving space on your harddrive.

I tried the Race unlocker, no luck. It still says that DoW does not seem to be installed properly (Even though i uninstalled it). I guess this was due to a registry file but i deleted my DoW registry files.
Any more suggestions? Thanks btw

Are you letting it install to its default location or are you specifying a different directory?
If its still having a problem it may well be that there are registry errors somewhere.
No idea how to fix that......
But maybe a scandisk/defrag may be in order just incase orphaned files have been left somewhere

Deleted all the regestries and reinstalled. In theory that should have fixed it but no

Recently did those too, no luck :(

Now this is just strange. After a few reinstalls i fired up SS. It then asked me for my DoW CD-Key to unlock those races, like below;
http://img01.picoodle.com/img/img01/4/3/15/f_relic00000m_c9813e7.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/3/15/f_relic00000m_c9813e7.jpg&srv=img01)
I enter my DoW key and this message appears;
http://img01.picoodle.com/img/img01/4/3/15/f_relic00001m_ee83f96.jpg (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/4/3/15/f_relic00001m_ee83f96.jpg&srv=img01)
Now the strange thing is that its says DarkCrusade is not installed correctly, but previously it asked me for the DoW key. There does not seem to be any problems with the installs or the regedtry files so im now confused more so.

After hours of tinkering, ive finally fixed it :ignore:
For future reference, the registry files for DoW were located in a different place to where they should be.
Thanks for the help all, il see you around!
