Ok, so I'm running a fresh install of Soulstorm on my 32 bit vista laptop, she has....
1024 Ram,
128 Radeon video card,
dual core 2.0 processor

Now, the problem im experiencing, is that when I try to play campaign, every time the meta map loads... an excruciatingly long period passes before eventually, the load is successful. This time period is between 5 and 12 minutes. Naturally this interferes with my campaign play time.

On the THQ official support thread, they mention an issue where if virtual ram is disabled, then a similar problem may occur. Vista isn't directly supported, and I'm aware that it tends to... use a bit more RAM than a 'normal' OS so I increased my virtual ram page file to a manually set 2 gigs, and tried again.. no success, then 3 gigs, still no success. I have a roomate also running vista, albeit 64 bit, with something along the lines of a super computer, and hes not experiencing any issues at all. So I'm just asking if anyone else had encountered this issue or a solution to the problem.

EDIT:: UPDATE
After upping the virtual ram to 3 gigs, ive at least managed to make it a rather short process to alt tab from the load screen. During the loading process soulstorm.exe is using about 550 mb of ram, which, isn't as high as I expected, and barely 1% of my processor power. So I'm out of guesses at solutions to the problem either than the cynical, use XP.

The processor used is only 1% because you are alt tabbed out of it, and the application is sort of on hold. When you are in game, your processor is being cranked.

Regardless of how much CPU its using, the issue doesn't seem to be one of meeting the hardware requirements. I know that the game doesn't actually support vista, but the problem should still be something thats correctable. Also, I forgot to include that I've also tried running the executable in XP compatibility mode, <sarcasm> for the plentiful help that frequently provides </sarcasm>

I have the same problem: in campign after every battle or loading up the map or starting campign from the main menu I get a 1-2 minute long loading time. Oddly enough the people that I have asked say they have the same problem and the only people that dont have this problem are vista users. Although it may just be coincidence out of the people I asked.

I'm a Vista user, and I only get a 30 or so second loading time which IS a bit too long, but definitely not as long as some people. From what I've seen so far, Soulstorm is fairly unstable; I've encountered ridiculously long campaign map loading times, and occasional freezing during the loading of the campaign menu, or heck sometimes even when quitting the game. I'm guessing that there's a memory leak somewhere.

Mm.. I just hope its something that gets corrected in the first patch, because right now, for me at least, the campaign is definitely unplayable.
