ok heres the problem short and simple. iv decided to do a fresh reinstall of all of my DoW's. vanilla dow and wa install fine. yay. i pop in the darkcrusade disk, and instead of having "install" it has 'play the game'. now i know that this is a registry thing, but, there is no record whatsoever of dark crusade in my registry. also, there is no darkcrusade files on my computer at all. after i uninstalled dc, i went to the thq folder and manually cleaned up the dc files. anyway, so i manually install it from setup.exe on the dc disk, and i go into dc, and there are 3 signs that tell me that dc thinks its been used already. sign number 1! - it doesnt prompt me with the graphics config thingymajigy. sign number 2! i can skip the intro movies. sign number 3! when it loads up, the first thing i see is a window saying "warhammer 40,000 - dawn of war does not appear to be installed correctly. please reinstall" (btw i have reinstalled all my dawn of war' about 5 times today) so any ideas please?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!1one11?!

Okay, first try doing a normal uninstall by using the uninstaller, and then go to your THQ directory (Default C:\Program files\THQ\) and delete your Dawn of War - Dark Crusade folder entirely.

Next go to Start\Run, (Start\Accessories\Run on Vista), and type in regedit. From Regedit go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\THQ, and make sure Dawn of War - Dark Crusade is not present. Repeat all of these steps for Dawn of War if you feel you should reinstall that again.

Finally, reboot your computer, and reinstall all of your Dawn of War games making sure to patch them. Everything should work fine.

If you are running 64bit version, there is another location in the regedit you need to delete. I cant remember where but it in a folder called WoW64 or something.
