Though I don't have the time or knowledge to do a Cataclysm mod, perhaps someone may or will do it.
I made this thread so people can suggest or develop ideas in executing a Cataclysm total conversion. Maybe this will help
- Of course, the modules on the Command Ship can finally be targetted.
- IFFY: Perhaps research should be forced upon people in order to build new types of ships. First the module or subsystem should be built, then you research the tech in the module, then you can finally build it. Iffy.
- Acolytes and ACVs. Perhaps Acolytes should be built in squads of 6. That way, when they link up, the players can have squads of 3 ACVs.
- Recons built in squads of one, two, or three?
- How will Mimic kamikazes be programmed?
- Should the dreadnaught be as strong as the battlecruisers? Or should they be as they were in Cataclysm?
- Crystals could be salvaged like ship debris like in HW2.
- Should harvesting be like it was in HW1 or HW2?
- How would Beast infection beams work?
- If someone is doing a Cataclysm mod, perhaps there should be a joint collaboration between any teams doing the HW1 total conversions. Afterall, Cata does take place only fifteen years after HW1. The models and behavior for HW1 ships in HW2 will be needed.
