I need to know how much data 'Dawn of War: Dark Crusade' downloads while playing multiplayer games. I hoped that someone would be able to give me a figure in megabites or gigabites per hour or some other measurement understandable to someone of medium computer literacy. I need to find out so that I don't risk going over my parents downlod limit (about 40gb a month). Thanks in advance!

Its all depending on what game type, size etc. Off hand I reckon I use around 100MB per hour max so with 40GB you'l be fine. Put it this way, my limit is 5GB per month and I dont exceed it.

The game is perfectly playable on a 56k dialup connection, so I doubt its very much.

Assuming it maxed out a 56k connection (it doesnt) - thats 56kbit/sec = 7 kb/sec.

40 Gb is 40 * 1024 * 1024 = 41943040 kb

So to download 40Gb whilst playing would take 41943040 / 7 = 5991862.8 seconds = 69.35 days solid.

You arent going to break any download limits playing games, its actual downloads that can hurt - game patches are pretty big nowadays, as are demos. You can buy games online to download (steam etc) and things like the BBC iplayer eat up quite a lot of bandwidth as well.

Its quite suprising but watching videos such as on youtube also use a hell of a lot of limit up. I generally find browsing the interenet is where I use my limit up. But at 40GB you will be fine.

yeah youtube can use a lot of bandwidth if you use it fairly often (remember that you dont have to watch the entire video for it to be downloaded).

So... If I got two friends and me to all play on my internet connection for one month with no breaks we would go over the download limit? ...I have a cunning plan!!!

I dont think its advised but im sure you wouldnt go over the limit. As for playing DoW simultanious through one connection, it is possible but you will need to do some tweaking unless your router supports this.
