NEW Patch Problem

Hello all,

i've read all the "patch problem threads" but i think this is a new problem^^

first of all, i have got the german version of the game and vista32

when i want to install the patch this window tells me sth. like


"SS_DE_1.00_1.10_Patch.exe doesn't work anymore

I already tried to download it via the online- lobby, reinstalled the game (also deleted all entries in the registry) but always the same message :crash:

I hope someone can help me, I waited for about 6 month for this patch :banghead: :(

Hmm, are you running it as administrator? Is Windows up to date?

Could you try installing with any security software disabled?

yes i just reinstalled it without any sec software, my windows is up to date and i ran it as admin O.o

... but always the same :(

ok, well the only thing I can think of is that the installer application is corrupt. You could try doing a windows repair (or even going all the way and doing a format, but I dont like to recommend that as its a big thing to do to get one game working and its a lazy thing for tech support to suggest).

i dont think my vista is corrupt because it's my new notebook which is only 2 weeks old O.o

maybe the fault is that i have only SS without the other parts installed?? (wanted to uses the race unlocker after having successfully patched the game...

well i think i will reinstall it once more and delete all DoW related files including registry entries from my system, and if that doesn't help, i'll format >.<

SS is designed to be stand alone, you shouldnt need the other DoW games to be installed for the patch to work.

The reason I think its a windows problem is that that is a windows error message informing you that an application (the patch installer) has crashed, all the other patch related problems have resulted in an error message generated by the patch or the game (so nothing crashed completely, something went wrong and the people at Relic had an error message programmed ready to tell us about it)

i solved the problem :-P
I installed SS on an old computer using Win XP.
Then i was able to patch the game without problems...
After having copied everything on my computer using Vista, I edited the registry, ran the race- unlocker and everything works fine now =)

so this thread can be closed^^
