Post 1.1.1 patch, Ultra locked *FIXED* see inside for fix

Ive seen many people with the inability to select "Ultra" textures running Vista 32, i was in the same boat, however, prior to the latest patch i manually edited the cfg file and set "textures" to 3, thus enabling "Ultra". It looked great.

I updated the game earlier today and now "Ultra" textures are locked/greyed out again. Ive tried editing the cfg file again, even setting it to read only but its not working. I also added the –disable32bitcheck cmd in the shortcut to no avail.

No one has described this particular issue (post patch) many can now run Ultra textures since the patch. I realize there are lots of crashes still but like i said, prior to the patch i had everything set to ultra and it ran smooth as you like, no crashes. I just don't get why the patch which was supposed to fix the issue has now created a problem.

Any ideas ?

Kung fu you rock, i added the commands to the steam launch options and they worked like a charm, back to running on Ultra and looking beautiful =) thanks mate. :bigwave:

I had a shortcut on the desktop with the commands added but it only works through steam it seems.

Anyone with issues should also add these commands to the steam/DoW2 launch options. -applaunch 15620 -disable32bitcheck -yam

Use at own risk, 32bis operating systems are not compatible with ultra textures because of a memory limit. (2GB per application.)with new stuff from DLC and expansions. You'll crash more often the more new stuff they introduce.

So again, use at own risk, crashes are very likely to occur.

DX9 on Vista 64 bits ok, but DX9 on Vista 32 bit, not so hot.

oops, spoke too soon. After 2 failed attempts at online multiplayer resulting in thermal shutdowns, I can't play even single player for more than 10 minutes without a thermal shutdown in even the ultra resolution without this fix. dell sucks. I will install a pair of 120mm case fans blowing directly on the offending crap and post further.

Just had to grab latest Nvidia drivers for my 8800's, but will still be adding more fans to my dell easy bake oven.
